But carving his character amongst is Dev Goenka (played by Bhuvnesh Mann). Incidentally, like Mihir and Vatsal, Bhuvnesh too is seen making a comeback to small screen with his new pivotal role.
In conversation with dna after hrs Mann highlights the plot of the serial, his role, camaraderie with co-star Ayub Khan and reason behind the five-year-long break.
The serial and your character sketch
Bhuvnesh: Unlike most other serials, currently on air - the saas-bahu drama - this serial has a different packaging. It is
a finite series, in a story-telling format, reflects crime against women and how the powerful and rich, who commit these crimes, manage to get by. It is indeed quite shameful for us to be living in a society where this is a harsh reality. But the character Durga' (played by Sanjeeda Sheikh) has decided to achieve justice for a crime done in the past. My character is the good guy who helps Durga in her aim and wants to unearth the culprits. So, when the producer and creative director approached me with the role, I instantly grabbed it. As an audience, when I go home to watch the serial, I too want to see positivity and probably this was the main reason I grabbed the role.
Were you insecure to enter the show mid-way, noting that other male characters have already gripped the audience to their characters?
Bhuvnesh: It was. I was aware that the audience is already hooked to their characters and the story has taken a great shape. But my focus was on carving my character in a manner that the audience, with each passing episode, would want to know more about me and my motive. Hence, I concentrated only on shooting and how best I could put forward my role as Dev'.
Explain the five-year-long break?
Bhuvnesh: After playing Soham Mehta' in 2007 in Dahhej' to Arjun' in Dehleez' in 2009 and a cameo in Maayke Se Bandhi Dor' I wanted to try something different. So, I started assisting various people in film direction and also actively participated in my family business. I was learning the art of film-making and what goes behind it. More so, the offers received during these times were not exciting enough, so that was another reason behind my absence from TV.
Camaraderie shared with Ayub Khan
Bhuvnesh: I think it is always great to share screen space with a senior actor. There is lot to learn from them and somebody like Ayub Khan, who also has an experience in the film world, definitely promises for a great time. He would shares tips during the scenes and would always help in presentation skills. I would always watch him when he would shoot his scenes, to further learn the art of acting.
When not acting...
Bhuvnesh: I am in my shell, watching movies or penning down my thoughts or enjoying coffee with a few friends I have.
