'Humpty Sharma...' has an honor killing angle?

If Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania appears to be all fun and frolic then hold on to your horses. Even as Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt get into a playful banter while jiving to the tune of Saturday Saturday, there is a serious side to the affairs as well. Insiders inform that the film also has an angle of 'honor killing' to it.

"Though it is not on the forefront, it is definitely there," informs our source, "While the film has its base in Delhi, it also goes into the interiors of Punjab. There, things do get a little serious, though not overtly dramatic."

Recently, Heropanti was another film which had honor killing turning out to be a key episode in the love story of Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. However, the makers had done well to hide that fact from the promos, lest it became too overbearing and made audience believe that it was an issue based film.

"In case of 'Humpty Sharma...', there is just a little touch of this social evil but that's about it," our source adds, "What scores most is the love story which is that of a simple real couple, but with a larger than life appeal."

When contacted, Varun Dhawan was obviously not too forthcoming about this angle in the story. However, he did add that there is a lot more to the film than what meets the eye, as far as the entertainment quotient is concerned.

"One thing which I can tell you is that it is a very performance oriented part for me. It isn't like there is just some fun element and more of that. Yes, my Student of the Year as well as Main Tera Hero were out and out fun but here, there is some good drama in play. I have some good scenes with a senior actor like Ashutosh Rana and since he is so intense, it was a challenge for me to interact with him for screen. Meanwhile, we have made sure that drama bahaut zyaada naa ho jaaye. There is some drama in the film but no melodrama."
