For one who was considered to be a sure finalist for Biggest Loser Jeetega, Gracious D'Costa lived up to his name after his unexpected eviction on Saturday. Thirty-one-year-old D'Costa says that the spark and fun in the house has gone after his elimi- nation: "I'm sure I was very enter- taining. There's been an uproar in the house in the last two weeks about his growing friendship with Muna Aleem. Just friends.. She was evicted last week. He says, "It goes without saying that I bonded best with her. Muna was the fittest in the group. I felt bad to see that she couldn't walk one day. I've helped her with a clean heart. I've also done the same for the others and am not answerable to anyone." Was he evicted because of his violent outburst after Muna's elimination? He replies, "No, I'd have been evicted anyway. Muna and I were the strongest con- tenders in the Red Team." He regrets the fact that he wasn't smart enough to ensure a longer innings in the show: "I was a fool not to play a game. It's just not a part of my personality to be manipulative. Obviously, team members like Sharmila Joshi and Hiren Bhawsar formed an alliance and voted me out." Paid fitness Why did he accept the show? To that, he states, "I've spent huge amounts of money on various slimming programmes..none worked. He considers bringing down his weight to below 100 kilos after 14 years as his biggest triumph. Gracious thanks health and fitness director Andrew Leipus and trainer Deepika Mehta for motivating him to stay focussed on his goal of losing weight. Even though liv- ing there and working out six hours a day wasn't easy for him. Naming Ajay Nagrath as the most likely winner, he remarks, "He's a kid and has more stami- na than us. He has it in him to go all the way." Silly mistake Host, Suniel Shetty, is unhappy about D'Costa's elimination. He says, "It's a foolish decision. I was in tears. Gracious was the naughtiest, yet the most lov- able..I'm going to miss him. It's his behaviour that did him in. He was the strength of the team..it's going to be tough for them now." According to Shetty, "The show needed him. Priyanka should have been eliminated. One has to eliminate sensibly and not fall prey to insecurities. The smart ones have made their move but they won't last long. Infact, after the Muna episode, I'd warned Gracious that his aggresive reaction would be his undoing. His attitude scared the others." Shetty is proud of the improvement in the contestants. "They're achievers. I'll do every- thing to help them in every pos- sible way. I'm going to help Gracious reduce his weight to 75 kilos. And I've promised the con- testants that they will be a part of every Popcorn venture." This week, Shetty will join the participants in a training session.
