Episode 611 Discussion: 27th June 2014, Friday

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is
  1. It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter.
  2. We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
  3. It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
  4. And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Note for All posting reviews and thoughts over this EDT

Please read the pointers below for posting on EDT.

Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. This is anentertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. Neither is ranting or bashing actors or makers of the show. Please exercise judgment.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread.
  1. Page 1 - post only reviews (which can be one liners - if you wish.) Also, please don't clutter up page 1 with multiple posts - give others a chance to post their reviews.
  2. Many reviewers add an "ETA" to their original post, if they want to make an additional point soon after posting.
  3. Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more and the discussion becomes irrelevant to the topic on hand, please take your conversation with your buddies to chat clubs, pm mode etc.
  4. The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating /whining / complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum
  5. When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.
  6. Regulate the font size and colors. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters, or multi-colored font for no special reason.
  7. Quoting Policy: refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. Pick out the parts that you like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, and multiple quoting makes it very hard to scroll though.
  8. Feel free to post links of other members posts which had been "delightful read" towards analysis of episodic event/s or character analysis.

Two kids in school trying to irritates each other 🤣
Intelligently JM used Vacuum cleaner 👏

Two step sisters are watching Alice making food, and the step mom Raja shut down the electricity... Now I'm watching Alice in wonderland 😆

Two kids again in challenge... can't accept losing to each other😆

I'm wondering whether there is a problem between DD and director... I love DD's acting, but can't connect with her for last few weeks!

She is doing over acting, voice rude, popped eyes and even her movements are very aggressive.
DD's char should be toned down, her dialogue is fine, her hatred is fine, only her dialogue delivery was deadpan, flat tone...It is quite sad that the quality of her acting these days has become so pathetic, and CVs are doing nothing about it.

Wow! This is what I wanted to see in Madhubala. Typical saas bahu torture with bahu(who was supposed to fight for a much sensitive and controversial cause and change the system)doing household chores with Hausalon se BG.👏. So she will win the villagers by using gadgets..AK after the leap of 20 years did not have a mod. Kitchen Why was Raja gaping at vacuum cleaner? How silly , cheap and idiotic this will turn before July 12?
I am sure DD has some problem with her eyes.Ever popped..
And this is to Vivian. Do you have any idea about your role in MB? I am not against playing a village lad. But imbecile? Either Raja is a cold criminal or a moron..If MB 1 made you MB 2 is breaking rather killing you...If I watch few more episodes like this I will hate the sight of you..Even if it shuts out tomorrow I will not bother. Not even interested to know the end.

Since this somewhat acceptable (unlike the previous two) episode was focussed on the invaluable benefit of household appliances - and *not* on backfiring joint-presentation of rude epithets from the female lead and 'torture' by the male lead -, I'm going to focus on the household appliances facet first.

The vacuum-cleaner unexpectedly turned out to be a good move by JM, not because it stunned Raja that she would figure out the easier way to do the cleaning, but rather because she was not then goaded or coerced to stick to the broom.

It does not seem to have occurred to JM - or to Raja later - that her ideas of using gadgets depend on not being forced not to.

Or that her purchase (wholly dependent on someone else giving the money) of more could have been refused at the door itself, by the simple universal method of not paying whether or not the item is left at the door or handed over or taken back.

It was actually baffling that Raja wasted his money on buying something that would ease things for her, unless it was out of pity.
But his switching off electricity - so that she could then show her smartness in choosing a gadget with battery - clearly proved that he was not yet overflowing with sympathy for her, especially not to the extent of spending almost 20,000 rupees to make things easier for her.

So why the heck did the script witlessly write that nonsense?

And it was that second gadget-usage scene that was foolishly presented.

Firstly, we are to believe that a cosmopolitan millionaire's furnished home has a kitchen not already furnished with such conveniences?
AK should posthumously sue his then household staff for incompetence and maybe also pocketing part of the kitchen budget.

Secondly, JM has been in three kitchens - (1) at her grandmother's home in Mathura, (2) at Leelawati's furnished kitchen at the Sharma house and then at the chawl, and (3) AK Mansion's kitchen.

If the last of those three did not already have such a gadget, and neither Radha nor Bittu's family have the financial wherewithal to splurge on such, then where the heck did JM learn to operate it without even checking instructions-pamphlet?

Two versions of the same gadget can have some difference, and the good chance of the gadget flying apart and splattering the food in masterpiece abstract paintings on the kitchen's walls and ceiling.

The scene would have been flawless if - proceeding from the common-sense fact of there being a vacuum cleaner in the house - they had taken that further in common-sense that the other devices were also already part of the kitchen.
JM could have simply used those.
Same effect, less silliness of buying stuff for her convenience with someone else's money and effectively negating her own dialogues.

Instead Raja and JM both looked version 1 and version 2 of the category known as 'Idiot, MEIEJ leads, male and female'.
And it was an idiocy that could have easily been avoided in the scene-planning.

And yet, compared to yesterday's episode (Thursday, 26th June) and even more so the excruciating one before that (Wednesday, 25th June), this episode was a relief.
I'll even be rewatching it to see if the scripting's favourite 'jungli' 'jaanwar' epithets are actually not there in this episode - *finally* - or if I missed them interjected with casual ease at some point.
If they are actually absent, then fingers crossed they stay absent and don't wreck JM's image any further with mass-audience.

Today's episode was good.

Both leads were idiots - JM for not even thinking that Raja might refuse to spend his money for her purchases, and Raja for spending his money on something that was surely not going to make things more difficult for her.

But what made the episode acceptable was the laughably nice ideas of 'screaming torture' from the vengeful husband and sasuraal, and the absence of uncouth rude epithets from JM.

And with the nightly diya-watch continuing, hope the CVs don't show the wick lit up in JM's palm again.
Yet one more thing they have forgotten - holding a blazing item upon the palm as prayer or as penance is not something shocking - it's been there in umpteen films and serials, and is not at all unheard-of in real life as well.
Just a more extreme case of the even more common practice of walking barefoot on a path covered with sharp pebbles and possible thorns and splinters, to a shrine. Any long or short distance may be an endurance then.

There are two ways to ensure mass-audience switching the channel via the female lead's traditionally-unappealing characterization - (1) her disrespect while speaking to and/or about her husband/sasuraal (regardless of their conduct), and (2) making everyone else (especially the husband) look stupid to showcase her cleverness.
*Both* ways are a humiliation, and mass-audience unfortunately may be counted on to *not* be stupid enough not to understand that with clarity and react very unappreciatively by continuing their viewership-wrecking inclination of switching the channel.

In a serial's lead couple, neither the husband nor wife can be shown with lack of shrewd sense in holding the household together in a mass-acceptable way, if there be intent by the channel/CVs to not get crashing viewership at length for the track.

Hopefully the channel/CVs don't repeat past blunders by trying to showcase the female lead's cleverness in a way that the mostly unprogressive mass-audience would skip watching and leave the viewership floundering for each day's screentime by any such foreseeably poor track-planning.

Let *both* leads show sense and shrewdness and efficiency, and let them reconcile fast and
then *unitedly* work against the antagonist (rather than the channel/CVs sterling twofold floprecord for this series of either the antagonist winning until the last few minutes of a track, or the mass-unappreciable inadequately-traditional heroine as the solo rescuer and saviour. Every track on both these variations has crashed with remarkably foreseeable lack of viewership).
Let the couple fight *together* against the antagonist, effectively and successful at every increasing step, culminating in their combined triumph as a couple.

Didn't we see this food test earlier during village track?
Agni's draaagging dilogues are irritating me.The episode infact is boring..

CV's need to pace up the story..and madhu mission should be started..even at this juncture they have to reach a safe point so that if they get a dead line by the channel the show may not have a abrupt ending..Looking at the story I think we have time till september 🤔 but still the trp's are dropping so we have a risk

So the thing is that people in my place find this track as a social message track ..So a daughter-in-law solving and changing the sasural wale without being rude to them..this is called the real social message to the public in India.Or they are habituated to these kind of tracks..leela I agree with you on this because I have heard people views on this..

I am saying it again CV's could have brought this story long ago in the village track..atleast it would have served the purpose of madhu in village and goes inline with the story..

But now they are dragging it..need to pace up the TRP's are touching new lows every week..as a loyal viewer I could not bear my shows destruction

Halfway decent episode today.
In a nutshell, hauslon se veer...apni appliances (aka vacuum cleaner, food processor aur microwave) ke sahare, main balveer hoon 😃...Day 1 - JM the modern bahu proving her superiority over those villagers...Reminded me of those ads on TV years ago - where the demanding MIL would be shocked by the DIL's quick and amazing prep of complex dishes using instant mixes etc etc 😆.

I'm hoping they move beyond JM "tests" fairly soon, and focus on a more meaningful/emotional track. Hopefully CVs have something nice lined up, especially as the show ramps down.

I thought DD was fine today. Not amazing, but fine. Wanted to say it, especially since we seem to be really focusing on her in EDT. 🤗
