Chapter 5

Astha was exhausted as she sat on the stairway leading to someone's basement which was hidden from the street where the tavern is located, she had never run so fast and so much in her entire life, she never even went into this trouble before. She was breathing heavily, her body trembling with fear, anger and shock, too many surprises at once. But who would've thought that the handsome giant was actually very handsome in closer look?

She could still imagine his eyes, his dark brown eyes staring down at her from that handsome face, hard and curious eyes, intimidating as well, his face wasn't only interesting thing, oh no, his body was as well magnificent like his face, so big and large yet well shaped which can break bones with least bit of effort, how petite she looked in front of him.

Oh, what the hell was she doing? Analyzing him? What does it matter if he's big or small, handsome or ugly, she wouldn't be meeting him again, after the way he treated her, and the damn fool was thinking of retribution! In his dreams! Now he will think twice before he mess up with her, if there is second time, she just hope there isn't any, the kick she gave him was pretty sweet revenge for the way he manhandled her.

Then another question came into her mind, why did he stop the fight? Did he really discover her? What does it matter now, he wouldn't know who she was, since Sid lied, so he wouldn't have any more clues which can lead to her. Besides she would be leaving tomorrow to meet her father.

"Astha?"

She heard Sid's voice, more like a whisper, she shouted back "Here, Sid!"

Sid approached her and said "you can come out now, the street is empty."

"I can hear it" she grumbled then snapped "what took you so long? Did they detain you?"

"Nay, after you ran, I ran also and hid to make sure Shlok wouldn't see me and ask about you, even though I lied, but couldn't take chances you know."

"As if that bloody giant could've caught me."

"He would have if you didn't kick him! And maybe next time you'll start listening--"

"If you say I told you so, I swear I will not talk to you for a week."

"Well, that would be a relief."

"All right Alright, I admit I was wrong, I shouldn't have come here at the first place, next time you won't be catching me getting near any tavern. Am I forgiven, my dear cousin?"

"Yes you are, but it wasn't your fault, it was mine, I would've ignored Anshul but I got so angry I start fighting, well you're safe now, and I think you shouldn't go alone to--"

"Don't tell me, you're having second thoughts about me going alone to meet my father, I am capable enough to take care of myself! I need no one to protect me!"

"I've already seen that" Sid replied mockingly.

She knew what he meant, she should've protected herself, if that handsome giant didn't put her down, she wouldn't have been safe today.

"I wasn't prepared and I am safe" She said defensively.

"Prepared or not, you won't be going alone, I will think of something, don't you shoot daggers at me with your eyes, there will be no more discussion, another word from you and I will tell grandpa about your little adventure, think about it."

"FINE! I won't be going alone, you're pleased now?"

Sid grinned and replied "Pleased and relieved, let's get you home!"

He reached her elbow but she shoved his hand away.

"I'm not handicapped; I can walk without any help!" She said angrily and walked ahead while Sid chuckled at her.

Shlok held the dirk in his hand, it was made of a high quality, which means that girl may have been rich or it can be stolen or she bought it in cheaper price. There has to be something, some clue which can lead him to her. He asked every soul in the tavern about her, all answers the same, the lad was alone', stayed there for few minutes before you barged in', never seen the young man before'. God knows, how he is going to find her.

He could still remember her pretty face before she kicked him. Her face oval, black brows arched perfectly, large honey gold eyes filled with burning flames covered with thick black lashes, small pert nose, and luscious full red lips. Just thinking about her made his blood boil with desire.

He gasped realizing the impact of that girl on him, there wasn't any girl who stirred his desire and curiosity yet this girl he had meet only once had done both. It is a pity, he wasn't able to know about her more though he wants to know about this mysterious girl.

He sighed in disappointment, he wouldn't be able to meet her again since he's sailing back home tomorrow and wouldn't be coming back for a year or two. He frustratingly put the dirk back in his pocket, if she hadn't kicked him and ran, things would have been different. Damn HER!

Astha ran into her grandfather's arms and hugged him tightly.

"I thought you wouldn't be here to say good bye." Her grandfather said while hugging her back.

She looked up at her grandfather and cheerfully replied "my anger for you is another matter."

He smiled and cupped her cheek "I'm sorry, honey, you must understand the reason, you are the only one I have now, I don't want to get separated from you."

"I understand grandpa, let's just leave the matter! Have a happy journey"

"Thank you and take care of yourself" he said then added sternly "and as much as possible don't fight"

She grinned and replied "can't promise that!"

He shook his head seeing her smile, "like mother, like daughter!"

As soon as, her grandfather was out of sight, her smile faded, she sighed, she doesn't want to hurt her grandfather but she couldn't even forget her mother's wish. He will understand when she will be gone, just like she understood him, she thought stubbornly.
