~Chapter 6 - Growing Fonder~

Khushi readied herself in a blue suit, her inner self saying that he'll surely like her in blue. It was like a first date for her, though his sister and her mother were accompanying them. Be it be an arranged marriage, still no one can deny this fact, that they were sharing a bond. An unnamed bond. They wanted to talk to each other, they wanted to meet each other, they wanted to spend time together.. both wanted each others happiness.

Khushi picked up her phone and looked at her last received call.. 5:07 minutes. They conversed for such a short time, yet it felt as if those five minutes became one of the most special moment of her life. She smiled seeing her phone screen, but kept it aside as she heard her mother calling for her for the breakfast.

Arnav glanced at his reflection in the mirror, brushing his hair. He smiled looking at himself.

"You don't look that bad when you smile" he said to his reflection, smiling more. Smiling had become a habit for him now. Just like Khushi. May be he has learnt this from her only. She smiles a lot. She can make dullest of environment grinning in a fraction of minute.

He picked up his coat, and went downstairs to accompany his family for the breakfast.

"Chote at least today you could have wore something casual" Anjali spoke up as she saw her brother coming towards the dining table, with a black coat hanging on his arm.

"Di. Its OK. I don't really like being so casual. I mean. My wardrobe doesn't have much casual clothes in it" he said sheepishly, not wanting his Di to again start her rants against his wardrobe.

"Anjali beta? Something special today?" Arnav's mami asked excitedly.

"Haan Mami. We're going for shopping today. For Chote's and Khushiji's engagement" Anjali informed Manorama, in turn getting an okaywa from her.

The breakfast went on silently, with Anjali occasionally discussing with Nani about the Shagun which they had to take to Khushi's home.

"Chale Maa?" Khushi asked her mother politely, before receiving a nod from her, and they went and seated themselves in the car, to the Mall where Anjali had asked them to come.

"Khushi? Why are you so excited beta?" Khushi's mother asked her curiously, finding her smiling every now and then.

"Maa. You toh didn't tell me that Anjaliji and Arnavji are too coming for shopping"

"Oho. I was about to tell you last night only.. But.."

"Its Ok Maa. At least now I know it!" she said shrugging her shoulders, and continued to look outside the window.

"How did you come to know?" her mother asked after sometime, as realisation dawned upon her.

"Arnavji told me" Khushi replied in an 'obvious' tone.

And the rest of the journey went as a silent affair.

"Di. Why haven't they yet arrived" Arnav asked umpteenth time, looking at his watch.

"Chote. Have patience. Its been only 20 minutes since we have arrived here. Lets wait for another 10 minutes. Otherwise we'll call them" Anjali replied him, smiling at her brother's excitement.

Arnav stood up and went outside the jewellery showroom, to see if they are finding it difficult to locate the showroom. As soon as he escaped out from the shop, he found his princess walking towards him, clad in his favourite colour - blue, looking as great as always.

"Hi Arnavji" Khushi smiled brightly at him.

"Hi" he replied back, grinning at her. He saw Khushi's mother following Khushi, and bent to touch her feet, "Namaste Auntie", and Khushi's mother caressed his head lovingly.

"Auntie, lets go. Di is waiting for us" he said. Khushi's mother nodded and went inside the showroom, followed by Arnav and Khushi. Arnav slowly intertwined Khushi's hand with his, making her blush.

"How are you?" Arnav whispered in Khushi's ear.

"Just like you left me yesterday. All good" Khushi replied, blushing.

"Why do you blush so much?" he asked her teasingly.

"I don't know" she replied, and felt her cheeks going more crimson.

Khushi saw Anjali greeting her mother, and quickly unclasped her hand from Arnav's, making him gasp with irritation. She also went and greeted Anjali, flashing her brightest smile.

And the next two hours they sat in the same showroom, with Anjali and Garima making Khushi try all the jewellery pieces that Anjali liked or Garima liked or Arnav liked. To say that Khushi was frustrated would just be an understatement! Khushi down-casted her eyes, and then looked at Arnav with a helpless look. Arnav gestured to be calm and said to Anjali,

"Di. Why are you being so fussy? See. We are sitting here since past two hours. And you both are making Khushi try just neck pieces. What about our engagement rings?"

Anjali first glanced at Khushi's mother and then at Khushi, "I think Chote is right. Lets first see some engagement rings"

But on the contrary, Arnav and Khushi didn't allow Anjali or Garima speak a word during their ring selection. And consequently, that selection got over in just 15 minutes! Wow. Khushi thanked Arnav through her eyes, sighing deeply.

After finalising all the intricate jewellery pieces that they had to buy, the bill was paid, and finally they moved out from the jewellery section. Anjali and Garima moved ahead of Arnav and Khushi, who were walking behind them slowly.

"Arnavji? Can I ask you something?" Khushi asked him, biting her lip.

"Haan"

"You came here for shopping with Anjaliji. If she had not told you that I'm also coming.. then too, you would have come? Or just because she told you that she had invited Maa and me, you also decided to join her for shopping"

"No. I wouldn't have joined her if you had not been coming" he replied softly, making her lips curve into a comfortable smile... the feeling of being special... the feeling of being meant to someone.

"Where are they?" Garima looked behind, not finding Arnav and Khushi following them.

"I'll give Chote a call" Anjali said and dialed Arnav's number.

"Hello?" came his voice from other side.

"Chote? Where are you?"

"Di. Me and Khushi have stopped by a coffee shop here. We'll join you in sometime"

"OK Chote" saying so Anjali hung the call, informing Garima about them, and continuing to look for some really heavy lehengas for Khushi.

"What would you like to have Sir?" the waitress politely asked Arnav.

"Two cups of coffee" he ordered, after conforming with Khushi. The waitress noted down the order and went away to the kitchen.

"Khushi. You look really beautiful in blue" Arnav complimented her.

"I had a feeling that you'll like blue" she told him, blushing a deep shade of red.

"Nahi. You look pretty in everything" he corrected himself, making her feel overwhelmed.

They both grinned at each other, feeling their hearts swell with joy.

Its true that they were Growing Fonder.. But was it Love?
