Kritika and I will always remain the best of friends: Karan Kundra

Telly heartthrob Karan Kundra recently made a brief visit to Raipur. He spoke to us about his pleasant first trip to the city, how he survived the industry without a godfather, and why his ex-flame Kritika Kamra and he will always remain the best of friends.
Overwhelmed by Raipurites' welcome "I was in Raipur for the first time for a work-cum-pleasure trip and I must say I was impressed by the greenery of Raipur. Also, there are so many bamboo trees in the city," said Karan, talking about his first experience in Raipur. He continued, "It's a wonderful city with such lovely people. I got a very warm welcome by Raipurites. Unfortunately, it was a very brief trip, so I hardly got the chance to explore the places here. I am looking forward to my next visit when I can go around the city."
Regional films not a grooming ground for Bollywood We asked Kundra if doing a Punjabi film serves as a grooming ground for TV artistes before going to Bollywood, given that many actors including Karanvir Vohra, Rannvijay and Karan Kundra himself have taken the Punjabi route to films. To this, the actor said, "I don't think so. There is a huge difference between the both of them. Both of them cater to different kinds of audiences. It's no more like if you've won a beauty pageant, you will surely become an actress. Plus, both differ a lot in terms of budget, effort and bandwidth. So, I don't think it's fair to compare the both of them." Talking about why he did films like Pure Punjabi, he said, "I'm a Punjabi. So, I enjoy doing the films. It comes naturally to me. I don't see it as a trial for Bollywood, but take up those films for my satisfaction."
I survived the industry without a Godfather The actor rose to fame with his arrogant but passionately romantic character of Arjun Punj in the show, Kitani Mohabbat Hai, and later debuted in Bollywood with Horror Story last year. We asked him why he debuted with a horror movie when his romantic image made him a popular name, and Karan replied, "I don't have a godfather in the industry. I have survived it on my own. Even if Arjun of Kitani...wouldn't have clicked with the audience, I had little choice at that time. But now, I can choose my roles and I don't want to be stereotyped in a particular image or genre." Karan, who is busy shooting for Dilphire right now, added, "My upcoming films too will project me in different roles. If Dilphire is a romantic drama, another film, Ram Pam Posh, is a psychological thriller. I only want to do challenging roles, whether it's action, romance or horror."
Won't bid goodbye to TV even after being successful in B-wood The actor says he's too busy to act in a daily soap right now, but that doesn't mean he has abandoned the small screen. "Television has made me what I am. It has also got me my break in Bollywood. So I will never say goodbye to TV. Aaj kal aap dekho kitney bade bade stars bhi TV pe show kar rahe hain. I will never say goodbye to TV." There's buzz that Karan could be seen in a desi version of the series, Vampire Diaries. To this, Karan said, "It's premature to talk about it. All I would say is that it's based on vampires, but not exactly the remake of Vampire Diaries. I have two films coming up. I can't make time for a daily soap. We shoot 25 days a month for TV shows. If I continue taking break from that schedule to promote my film, toh producer toh barbaad ho jayega na."
Kritika and I will always remain the best of friends Karan Kundra co-starred with his ex-girlfriend, Kritika Kamra, in their first show, Kitani Mohabbat Hai, after which the jodi became an instant hit with the audience. Later, the two of them separated, but still share good chemistry with each other. He said, "I have no qualms about sharing the screen with Kritika. We are not romantically together anymore, but we are the best of friends and will always be there for each other. Kuch bhi hota hai toh sabse pehle phone Kritika ke paas hi jaata hai. She is and will always remain one of the most important people in my life."
So, is he seeing someone currently? Karan laughed and said, "Where's the time? Main padhta rehta hoon ki mujhe kabhi kisi se toh kabhi kisi aur se link kar dete hain. Jabki maine kabhi apna relationship nahi chhupaya. Mujhse pooch toh lo yaar. Whenever any such thing happens, I will let it be known." And the actor signed off.
