ANSWER : "Bathilda Bagshot"

I was a part of a remarkable day in the life & family of the chosen one,

She was the only one to have been invited by the Potters for a quite tea on the occasion of Harry's first birthday.

My advances were rebuffed, yet I remain one of the closest one.

This is in reference to her efforts to get close with Kendra Dumbledore who repeatedly rebuffed her friendly advances , however, Bathilda was the only one who managed to get a little close to the Dumbledores while they lived in Godric's Hollow..

The chosen one never paid me much heed, but his companion did & that was for a reason,

Harry was least interested in "History of Magic" subject at Hogwarts so he rarely paid any attention to the text books of the subject authored by Bathilda but Hermione ( his companion) was very much interested in it & knew a good deal about Bathilda already.

I was taken advantage of, for it was never my intention to commit any treason.

Rita Skeeter used Veritaserum to get the required information from old Bathilda & further added her own spicy juicy touch to Bathilda's evidences to further defame the Dumbledores..

My end remains shrouded in enigma,

She was murdered , most likely by Voldy himself , and her body showed signs of dark magic as was reported on Potterwatch..

It culminated in a grotesque surprise, which for the leading trio became a cause for future delima .

Voldy placed Nagini inside Bathilda's corpse, (yuck !!.. 🤢) since he expected Harry to visit Godric's Hollow, n Harry along with Hermione did visit the wizarding village where he had a close brush off with Voldy again but managed to escape at the last moment..

Used for sinister motives,not once but twice,

First she was used by Reeta Skeeter for her own sinister purposes & then by Voldy.

My name is now down in the history,free of any vice.

She is known as the most celebrated & accomplished witch of the twentieth century owing to her achievements in the field of " History of Magic ".
