"Dharma ka aadhar karuna.."
Compassion for fellow being..
If you can feel pain seeing pain of fellow human being.. You are being sensitive ..You do have dharma in your heart..
But what we do with this...
Do we go out and extend our helping hand..for the one who seeks..
or just blindly turn our face around and just walk away ..
probably just feeling bad for sometime and then entirely forgetting that seeker of your help...
Isnt this normal in today's scenario...
You might wonder what got into me suddenly.. Well just a lazy saturday morning .. and was surfing through the channel.. I saw a social experiment being conducted on a news channel.. And what I see a injured person crying for help on roads of delhi.. and noone pays heed to him.. Some dont even bother looking at him and some who looked quitely stood there watching tamasha perhaps... Noone came forward to help the one...in need..This just hit my heart somewhere..What are we doing...Where are we leading ourselves into..A world devoid of emotions...A world devoid of compassion..this will be our reality soon if we just dont stop and introspect.. Time to look inside and realise true meaning of your dharma...
Where is karuna ..that feeling of compassion in these hearts i feel...
they dont even care ..to turn around and feel for the one in pain...for the one who seeks their help...
Lord Krishna tells Arjun when he asks about Dharma.. First thing is the feeling of compassion for our fellow beings.. which we seem to be constantly loosing around.. Dont you think it is time to introspect teachings on our own dharma..and perhaps finally decide to not turn blind...
when something wrong happens in front of your eyes...raise your voice...for justice...
when someone is in pain and need your help ..give a hand and shoulder...for that person.. to make him feel that God does reside in all of us...
Sorry for this rant .. If mods find this topic inappropriate and sort of moral preaching...Please close this topic.. But just felt like writing something from heart... and if i hurt anyone with this outburst ..I apologise...but I do feel hurt when i see insensitivity exceeding among us..
its more like we dont care.. where it should be ..We care...

LOVELY post Riti
Well in the present scenario I see people cribbing and complaining once the damage is done and blaming the governance which is justified to a certain extent but when the same mistake happens over and over again or is happening within your surroundings one doesnt pay heed to it.
I wouldnt go to complex issues like rape and child abuse.
I am only speaking about minor petty things which people tend to ignore for instance when an aged person crosses road none bother to help him/her.
If an accident happens one doesnot really bother .
I can understand the hectic schedule and ignorance in helpless situation but most of the people tend to ignore by thinking "WHY ME"???
If every individual will have this opinion Humanity will completely perish in the society.
Also minute things like when one travels in a bus if a senior citizen is standing none really bother to offer him a seat.
People have become selfish.
Though I donot say all of them there are several NGOs and self Help Groups Volunteering for development of society but I think every person should contribute their bit may not nessecarily enroll in schemes and voluntary organisations .
But at least develop some kindness towards a fellow human being.
This reminds me of another teaching of Krishna
Parents should imbibe values ,morals and basic code of conduct to their children .
and finally thanks for a lovely post
I would like to say Bhagwatgeeta is not about Religion or for religious heads to read and follow.
It teaches the values ,principles and way to lead a perfect life.
It helps in allowing a human being to become a better person.

Sadly this is the ugliest face of society. I've come across numerous cases in which people opt to be mute spectators. And as Lekha di pointed out, they march out to protest only after the damage is done. Two different faces of an identical mob..! I accept that the government fails to make true their speech, but it doesn't reduce the responsibility of the citizens in any manner. The mob could stop a lot of crimes. How insensitive we have become, the ill age of Kali!

@frappie - indeed even in small small things... we tend to just shut our eyes... whether as you said like helping out old people crossing road.. or even offering them seat. these things are so common that there is a fear that a time will come that we will all loose basic essence of humanity.. Being compassionate is something that makes us human... dont know why it is just so hard to be human... thanks for detailed response..I do concur with every word of it... Hoping for a change..😊
@shruti- thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Well said Riti.

Even Krishna knew Kaliyug would be like this...no compassion, just self interests

Except for very few people in this world, majority turn their faces away whenever any injustice happens in the society

We need to cherish these few people who still understand the meaning of real dharma in kaliyug

Unfortunately ratio is decreasing day by day...unless we try to invoke our humanity in such times...which can motivate others to act too...

We look around for help from almighty at trying times forgetting fact the fact he is inside too...and asking us to just spread love and compassion around...

yes, that's the sad part- we always remember the almighty when we are in trouble and blame him for all our sorrows

How many of us thank him daily or remember him in good times?

I hope at least us forum members will remember the message of true dharma with compassion even after the serial is over. (although when I see some comments and fights on the forum I wonder if people are even getting the message here😉)

riti, another lovely, thought provoking post..🤗

I imagined myself amongst those mute spectators to see what I would have done and much to my horror, did not find myself helping the needy either..

I come across many beggars lying on the street, with no apparent signs of life. My usual reaction has been to put handkerchief to my nose, cross over to the street and carry on, wrapped up in my petty me.
I have come across few accidents, people bleeding and few compassinate people rushing to help but I have always been part of the crowd, looking intently all proceedings so that I have an exciting topic to discuss with my friends or over dinner table while savoring yummy food.

The only few times I have helped is when the person seemed "respectable" enough..

I am not qualified to comment on humanity, compassion but do wish one thing..

Wish we had a govt system, support similar to USA where a simple, hassle free call to 911 helps our fellow being without even stopping the car.

While not out of compassion or love, this will definitely help many to carry out their "duties" as part of society.

Thank you Mr.Cots😊 for appreciation.

I appreciate your honesty and this thing is common in all...Sometime it is lack of time in this busy world today and sometime people have this fear inside..whether by helping if they get in trouble..

I really like your idea about helpline..Though there is no common helpline number in India. All Highways normally have accident helpline number 4 digit one. This number is available to call PCR van and ambulance. At least from the highway I travel..I have seen this.Of course we need a better crisis management system. There is definitely hope together with new govt and people we can see hope for future.

Thanks again for wonderful comment
