Top 10 first week collections of 2014

Jai Ho continues to be the highest first week grosser at the domestic box office in 2014. Akshay Kumar's Holiday started slow, but picked up towards the end of the week and even managed to beat Jai Ho on Wednesday and Thursday.

Gunday and 2 States take the 3rd and 4th spots respectively.

While films like Humshakals, Ek Villain and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania are scheduled to release in the next 30 days, only Salman Khan's KICK has a realistic chance of beating Jai Ho. Kick would be targeting 130 crore+ in its first week at the box office.

Holiday - 68 cr (approx)
Gunday - 62.56 cr
2 States - 60.12 cr
Ragini MMS 2 - 38.47 cr
Main Tera Hero - 37.32 cr
Heropanti - 35.55 cr
Shaadi Ke Side Effects - 29.53 cr
Bhoothnath Returns - 28.14 cr
Hasee Toh Phasee - 27.57 cr

Shows how dull the business have been so far. Last year YJHD crossed 100 cr in first week. Then CE, K3 and D3 in the 2nd half of the year. 3-4 films can break Jai Ho's record unless they get terrible WOM imo.

Akshay's last films haven't done well so the expectations from regular moviegoers were nihil, he makes way more films in a year, it was not a masala film.. so many factors which are not being considered while comparing them.

It rather makes you people appear jealous of the fact that it's doing well despite not having any expectations and a star who is going through a rough patch BO-wise.

Yes, Kick, HNY and PK will surely break it. Probably BB too. BV also has a fair chance if WOM is good. I expect 50 cr opening weekend.
