Hello, firstly, it would be futile to compare what is shown in films and television with real India. real India is too vast, complex and varied in terms of behaviour, culture and parents-children relations too. On one hand there are metros, and very modern families or 21st century parents-children equations. n there maybe ultra conservative families too, where parents' say is the last word! N there maybe a middle ground too, where parents do want children's good, do listen to them, give them opportunity, but may ultimately decide themselves whats good n whats not; these r only a few examples of the nature of variation.
Many a times parents do feel, owing to their experience that what their observation or decision is, may hold the seeds of a better future for their children.
But all in all, it is do expected that whatever children do, has an element of respect for parents, whatever they do, must not cross the line of respect & disrespect.n this I feel, must be there, in every country.Sorry, I tried my best to explain to you! ðŸ˜
