"Hello Maam...we are from the Lucknow Police Department...we have some questions for you regarding the murder of Kavindra Malick." one of them said in a deep voice, holding his badge up for Khushi to see his validity. Khushi gulped. The two men took a seat in the seat across from her.
"Maam, I am Officer Alamgir, and this here is my partner, Officer Kapoor." the same man said pointing at himself then at his less intimidating partner.
"Mrs. Raizada, we have reason to believe you are the killer of the now late Kavindra Malick...what do you say to this statement?" Officer Kapoor questioned her.
Khushi continued looking at the officers, unsure of what to say. She loosened the dupatta from her neck slightly, which at this moment seemed suffocating and unnecessarily warm. Before she could reply though, Officer Alamgir spoke sternly
"Yours were the most recent fingerprints on the colt M1899 revolver that sent 3 bullets straight into his chest, one of them hitting his heart directly.
Khushi cleared her throat,
"Yes ..I- I killed him" Khushi said, trying to sound as mature and confident as she could. She couldnt afford to break down now..it would make her look weak. The officer looked at her speculatively with a hard frown on his face.
"I see..."Alamgir said as he cleared his throat. He stood up and looked at his less intimidating partner. The next second had Khushi in tears.
Officer Kapoor held out shiny, metallic handcuffs for her.
"W-whats this?" Khushi said as tears rolled down her face, trying her hardest to keep the uneveness and breaking in her voice at a minimum.Officer Alamgir turned her around all of a sudden and tied the handcuffs around her hands as she gasped loudly,
"N-no..w-what are you doing?" she cried
"Mrs. Khushi Singh Raizada you are being charged for the murder of Kavindra Malick. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you by the state" he recited the mandatory Miranda Laws sternly as he fastened the hand cuffs and lead her forcefully out of the hospital room.
"Arnav..." she cried out quietly one last time as she was unceramoniously pushed through the door.
