EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - PART 38

"I still can not believe it!!" said Shlok as he walked up and down his cabin waiting for the culprit to arrive. Rahul too was still in shock. Aastha had not reached the office yet. Shlok told Mansi to send Aastha to his cabin as soon as she arrives. Shlok was boiling in anger recalling everything Aastha had gone through.

There was a knock at the door. "May I come in Sir?" they heard a sweet voice.

"Come in!!" said Shlok clenching his fists as Rahul tried to calm him down.

Shikha entered with a smile on her face. But Shlok's angry gaze drove her smile away.

"I had not expected this from you... How dare you!... How dare you try to kill Aastha?!!!" Shlok roared.

Shikha's face was white in scare. "How did he know?" she thought. And then Shlok showed her the CCTV footage. She was shocked to see it... and ashamed.

"She could have died Shikha!!! Do you realise that?!!! You tried to kill Aastha!!" yelled Shlok. Shikha hung her head in shame as her eyes watered. "Why?! Why did you do all that to her?! Why are you trying to ruin her? What wrong has she done to you?!" asked Shlok. Shikha remained silent. "Answer me damn it!!! I am asking you!!" yelled Shlok and that made Shikha shiver. Tears rolled down her eyes.

"Shikha," said Rahul trying to be soft, "you can not deny this! Now tell us, why did you do all that? Why are you against Aastha?!"

"Because she took everything away from me!!" cried Shikha. "Everything was great till she joined the company. She came and suddenly got all the attention... and..."

"She got attention because she deserved it!!" said Shlok, "Do you understand?!! She deserved every bit of it!!" Shlok stressed on every word as he said it.

"No!!! She didn't!! I deserved it!!" cried Shikha wiping her tears. "She took away my respect, she took away my post, she took away my project and she took away my Shlok!!"

Shlok stared at her in shock and surprise. Though Rahul knew it was coming, he was shocked too.

"What?!" exclaimed Shlok, "What do you mean?!!"

"I love you Shlok!! I love you so much!! But you don't love me!! Instead, you love her!! I waited for that love for two years and this Aastha!! She got it in a few months!! That's not fair Sir!! It is not!!"

Shlok was numb for a moment after hearing it. "What rubbish?!!" he exclaimed. "I don't love anyone!! I can't love anyone!! I hate this word... I just hate this 'love'...!! And know it very clear, I will NEVER love anyone!! There is nothing like 'love' in this world!! It is all rubbish!!" said Shlok. He himself was confused. "And YOU!! How dare you say that to me!! How dare you say that you love me!!" Shlok was breathing heavily in anger. He breathed in deeply. There was silence for a moment. Shlok broke the silence saying, "I want you out right now!! Leave... AT ONCE!!! And don't forget to leave your resignation at the reception. I don't want to see you EVER again!!" Shikha looked at him in shock, her pleading eyes telling him to change his decision. "GO!!" he yelled and Shikha ran out of the cabin crying.

Rahul was surprised at Shlok's reaction. "Shlok, relax yaar! Why are you so angry at her? Look, we all know that you love Aastha and..."

"Oh stop it!! Now you have started too, Rahul?!! You know very well that I will never love anyone!! Because 'love' is very deceptive and it destroys the lives of people!! Do you understand?!!!" said a determined Shlok.

Rahul was totally surprised. "You are wrong Shlok... Shlok, think over it again... Ask yourself, can you live without her? Are you happy without Aastha?" Rahul tried to make Shlok understand.

"Please stop this nonsense Rahul!! Please!!" said Shlok. "Look Rahul, you are my best friend... and I don't want to lose you over this stupid quarrel. So PLEASE!! I don't want to talk about it any more!!"

Aastha, Shruti and Aakash arrive at the office. Shruti and Aaskash wanted to talk to Aastha about the recent events... that is, about Shlok and her. As they parked their bikes in the parking area, Shruti initiated the conversation. "Aastha," she said, "we wished to ask you something..."

"Arey you taking my permission?!" asked Aastha in surprise. She laughed, "Okay... you have the permission!!" said Aastha as she winked. Shruti and Aakash exchanged glances.

"Aastha, what's with you and Shlok Sir?" asked Shruti, "I mean, do you... you know what I mean... right?"

Aastha blushed. "Well, I don't know! I think I like him!" said Aastha. Shruti and Aakash were surprised.

"And does he like you too?" asked Aakash.

"I don't know! I think he does, but..." replied Aastha.

"Oh my God!! Aastha!!" said Shruti in excitement, "I don't believe it!! I mean... Great!!"

"What great?!! Haan?" said Aakash. "Aastha, forget all this, okay?" said Aakash plainly. Aastha and Shruti didn't understand his reaction. "Look Aastha, he is a very rich and a high-class person! Try to understand Aastha, all this means nothing to him! He is playing with you, I am sure of it! Believe me Aastha, you will regret later...! So better you stop all this now itself!"

"No Aakash, he not a person as you think... You are saying all this because you don't know him yet! Shlok Sir is a very simple and a very nice person! I know him!" said Aastha.

The three walked to the reception still arguing over this when Mansi told Aastha that she was called in Shlok's cabin right now.

Aastha knocked and went in Shlok's cabin to see Rahul and Shlok quarrelling over something. Both were silent as Aastha entered. Both were staring at her. She was confused. She looked at Shlok and asked, "Sir, you called me?"

Shlok didn't say anything. He just looked away from her and walked out of the cabin leaving Aastha confused and Rahul disappointed.

Rahul showed Aastha the CCTV footage and Aastha was shocked to know that Shikha was doing everything. She couldn't believe her eyes. Rahul told her that Shlok had fired Shikha demanding her resignation. He didn't tell her the other details ofcourse. Though Aastha was very angry on Shikha, she felt bad for her too. And why did Shlok leave on seeing Aastha? Aastha didn't understand that. "May be Shlok Sir is upset after knowing that Shikha was behind all that happened. I know how to light up his mood!! Today I will tell him what I feel for him!!" she thought happily and left the cabin.
