After the chaos there was silence, all were mourning in silence, dharma was restored, sacrifices were made, for the cause of the goodness of mankind victory was made at the loss of loved ones, there was peace, a peace which was deadly, a peace made of bloodshed. Silence continued to haunt as she stood on the banks of Ganga looking deep ahead to nowhere. As she close her eyes, in her ears reverberates the cries of mothers, wives, the sounds of clashing swords and spearing spears, the blown arrow, hoots of horses and the wounded warriors pain. She swiftly opened her eyes and felt miserable at these thoughts. It's pointless looking back but somehow she felt like delving in past. Silently she gulped down the tears and stood there.
"Panchali..." a soft and caring voice made her turn back.
"I will call Madhav..." he said and was about to turn.
"No Arya, I won't be able to comprehend what Govind will say today" she sighed.
He smiled and stood beside her, they both understand each other very well, even when they are not with each other, even if they don't speak for ages, and they both understand each other very well. When they are with their other wives or husbands, they respect them. Whatever they do, they know there is a reason behind it and trust their actions. They might question their actions or raise doubts in front of the whole world but deep inside they accepts whatever they do unquestioningly.
Their relationship was built on pure trust!
It seems what one thinks can be read by the other. Their belief was simple; they considered themselves to be a different version of same soul, residing in two bodies, set in this world to accomplish given task.
Letting out the agony of unknown pain, Panchali stood there, idle staring deep into Ganges.
"Don't blame you to be root cause Panchali" Arjun said soothing her confused mind.
She smiled, still looking deep into Ganga continued to think, she thought of each moment of their life from her marriage... he too smiled and stood there staring ahead into Ganges.
Her thoughts paused for a while and sceptical look shaded her face.
"Worry not Panchali, envy is pure human emotion and it's natural"
She gave a sly smile and sat down.
But he was still standing there perplexed.
"Arya, there is nothing wrong in what you are thinking" she said reading his thoughts and making him break away from his confused thoughts.
He gave her a curious questioning look as she continued "love can never be measured, you can love everyone equally and if your wives think you love her most, and then they are not wrong because love is all the same".
He knows that there is more to what she has just said and even when he knew what, he wanted her to continue.
"But yes, you can be more attached to someone"
Now he gave her a sly smile and sat down with her, it has been ages since they both had a talk, during all these years, they hardly spoke and whenever they speak it ended in few words strict to the matter, each of them had some other duty to be fulfilled and would away from each other. And today as they spoke the way in which they speak with half mystery and half complete sentences he longed time to be still. There was peace in their heart when they talk and the chaos of the world shudder away.
Her thoughts and actions could be foreseen by him even when he is miles away from her and so does she can get a clear picture of his doings when apart. They both were indeed like two parts of same soul, inseparable even when physically separated.
"Panchali, then you say whom you think I am most attached to?"
Without even blinking she said "Subhadra" and looked at him.
Calmly he asked "why?"
"Because he is my Govind's sister and I am most attached to her" then she smiled pleasantly and walked back.
He loves the way she talks and they way she let him know what she wants to say, he knows that she always knew he can never love anyone more than her and he too believes like that they both are not two souls but one soul separated!
