H e was the guy who took Poo (Kareena Kapoor) out on a date in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. But it's television, says Vikas Sethi, that's given him everything – money fame and , an award for his negative act as Swayam in Kahiin toh Hoga. The model-turned-actor is lighter by 19 kilos and is sport- ing a lean mean look as Prem in Kasautii Zindagi Kay. He has replaced Manoj Bohra. As is wont with most Balaji stars, all Sethi knows is that he's playing father to a teenage daughter. That doesn't bother him. "It's just a character and everyone on TV does it." In the industry for nearly four and a half years, Sethi says he has no qualms being a TV star. "No one should com- plain being a part of this industry because it has given us so much. I don't have any problems – the long hours at work, the tight schedules or the working conditions. The medium has given me everything," Ask him how he sustains himself in the grind of a daily show and he replies, " For me, it's either the role or the mon- ey or even the camera that motivates me. It's enough for me to keep going." The actor doesn't regret being a part of Deepak Tijori's forgettable film, Oops on male strip-dancers. "It was an exper- iment." Does he still aspire to be a film star? "I'd rather be a big fish in a small pond." Saying that his character in Kyunki.. is going to return soon, he adds, "A negative role is much more satisfying to play on TV today ." "I'm happily married for seven years," the Chandigarh born Sethi says, "life is good and I've no complaints."
