Amul Star Voice of India entered its second week, and this week has been an absolute musical treat..😃.. The Indore auditions were so so good, that I just didnt miss a single second of even the repeat telecast on Saturday..😳. The Mumbai auditions was not at the standard of the Indore auditions😕, but I am happy that only the good ones were selected from Mumbai, which means that there is a good chance some very deserving Stand-by singers to get in😛. Here is my take on the episodes this week...
The Indore auditions
I think all the singers were wonderful in this episode other than Anchal and Sweta.😕... I am not sure how inspite of losing sur so many times in 'Mera dil dil tera', how did Anchal get such a huge response😡.. just because it was a recent peppy number? Not sure... Vidya was just awesome in 'Kya jaanu sajan'👏, and am not sure again why Alka said 'ki aap zyaada emotional ho rahi thi'..😕 This is such an emotional song and she sang it with so much feel, never losing it at all... I thought she was fabulous.😳. her not making it through was certainly dissapointing.😭.. Just loved Abhas and his rendition👏..'Dil tera deewana hai sanam'.. I personally thought that he chose a lovely song and really sang it well... I would steel Alka's lines and say 'Abhas.. Shabash..'😛 His voice has matured but am not sure if he will have enough maturity to handle the contest pressure later😕.. But I wish him all the best..👍🏼. Karishma Kini has an awesome voice and she rendered the baghbaan song really well..👏. I was reminded of Himani's performance by this one😳, and somehow thought that she did better than Himani in this particular song 👍🏼(Baghban ofcourse was not the best performance of Himani)... Very steady and wonderful throw of voice..👏. Ira with 'Ek ajnabee dil ko chura ke le gaya' was also good, but somehow the attitude to sing this song seemed a little bit missing.😕.. nevertheless very good singing, but not sure if it deserved a song promise from Adesh then and there... Priyani with 'tumhari adaaon me main wari wari' was just too good.👏. I think she never faltered and was surprised that Alka said that she was inconsistent!😡 she missing out the bus was really very unfortunate!😭 Sweta with the Aitaraaz song was just average... I thought she was shouting lot more than required.🤢.. she was better in 'Sajna ki wari wari' though... Anirudhh Bhola had a very weak start in 'Mitwa' .😕.. and that put me off from note one.. his tonal quality is good, but somehow again him getting through the next round ahead of Priyani and Vidya is not acceptable..Supriya Pathak was very good with that nakhra song, she again has a very good throw of voice..👏. But the best part of the show was reserved for the last... Sanchari simply set the stage on fire just with her voice with Hawa hawai..👏👏👏 she showed that you dont need to move around and dance to perform an item number.😃. Its just the voice jo bijli gira sakti hai..😳.
Overall - I think it was a wonderful show..👏👏. Just that Priyani and Vidya, who had more melodious voices that Ira, Karishma, Supriya who were more in the huskier side seemed to get a wrong deal.😭. is it because Alka (the queen of melody) feels insecure about that melodious genre?🤔 That Abhijeet said that him and Adesh were clearly dissapointed that Priyani did not get in was an indication that it was Alka who ruled her out!😡 I think that was quite unfair.. Also to give Bhola a chance just because they thought that he has a good voice was not correct.. Even Priyani and Vidya had that, why were they not given a chance in that case?😭 And what was it with Aanchal? She must be thanking her stars that such an avg singer like her got through in such a highly competitive episode!😕
As for some of judges comments, may be a part of it was uncalled for... Adesh saying that yeh gaana hi behuda hai (Aitaraaz song) seemed in poor taste😕, but I am happy that the show is not highlighting such dialogs so much just to gain the higher TRPs.👍🏼.. some gentle exchanges between the judges has never taken the focus away from singing👏 and some of the tit-bits between Abhiheet and Alka does bring in a smile to your face..😛..
Mumbai auditions
The singers were not as good as Indore, and some of them were actually quite bad..😡. Thanks to the correct judgement, that they did only choose the deserving singers to the next round😊... I think Sushim Dey was very good with 'Dil ne tumko chun liya hai'... He did miss his surs in a couple of places, but his voice is great and he maintained the feel of the song till the end..👏. Sai, Prashant and Neha have nothing to write about as all their singing was weak.. I was actually surprised to see that Neha chose a song like 'Hai tere saath meri wafa' inspite of knowing her limitations so well!😕 Rahul with 'soniye' was average, probably we have heard this song so many times, that another time we hear it, and we dont feel like hearing it anymore.. Perhaps thats what Adesh meant when he said that yours is a very common voice! Prantika Mukherjee with 'Roz shaam aati thi' was simply awesome👏, I think she never lost it anywhere and really maintained the feel of the song..😳 yes, she still has a long way to go before she can render the same song like Nihira did in C2005... Amitabh with the KANK song was alright with the feel of the song and his voice quality is also good.😊. I think he missed the sur at some places.. Rani was aweful with her song...🤢
Overall - expectations were really high after the Indore auditions and Mumbai failed to match that.. but Sushim and Prantika are good singers and great that they were selected..👍🏼. Happy to see that this show is giving us the best quality of singers and focus in mainly music with very subtle or no drama..👏. Sangeet ki tapobhumi hai akhir, yaha suro se koi samjhauta nahi..😛. I would still think that the judges can actually live without taking pot-shots at the other lower quality shows... They are fine even without that.. Calling names is anyway not their genre or focus!😊
Shaan ofcourse provides the overall icing to the show.😳.. the way he encourages all the singers, and makes them feel so comfortable is something very pleasant.😊.. I certainly think that he is the coolest and yet the warmest host around😳
