DARKNESS LOOTERSWelcomes the Aasmanians of this forum to its SIXTH thread of discussion, and we hope you enjoy your time here. Tis' better to live your own life imperfectly than to imitate someone else's perfectly
When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny. Kalpana sitting at that altar waiting for her prince charming to come and sweep her off her feet had the unexpected awaiting her round the corner to ensure this was a day she would rather bury in the ground and never have it resurfaced. It broke her heart but not her spirit, she wanted to know why it happened to her, why she was not entitled to even one per cent of happiness, but alas it was not a question that would be answered. What struck her the most was the fact that the man she loves chose revenge over her, she was once again made to feel second best in someone's else's life. But nonetheless, she put on a brave face and continued her life albeit at the pace of a tortoise, but hey? At least she was not sitting and crying about him. Then came the phone call, and his voice was enough to make her fall back in love with him, her suppressed feelings came back to the fore, but her mother's voice brought her back to reality and she cut the phone. But this was the beginning of another chapter for her waiting to be written. Then she was told the man she loved was about to commit suicide if she did not go and meet him, and having just promised her mother she would forget him, she was put in a dilemma. Today was meant to be her birthday, but she had no reason to celebrate her existence, nonetheless she chose to put a happy face for her family and went out there to enjoy, until she was made aware of Raghav's ultimatum.Raghav pacing around his house, trying to make sense of the situation, trying to decipher how he would break the news of his divorce plans to his mother and re-assure the love of his life that he truly did care about her, and that he truly did love her more than life itself. His mother refused to acknowledge his pain, refused to acknowledge his love, reminding him of her own agenda, because hatred had blinded her to such an extent that for her only the seeing of blood of her enemies will bring her back to her senses. She knew how much her son truly wanted to be with the woman he loves, thus why she pretended to try and burn herself, to set his goals into perspective, and his dilemma knew no bound. He knew he had to go and meet at her 10pm because if he didn't he would lose her forever. But how could he bring himself to face her? How could he ask her to wait for him for one year? What right did he have to demand such a wait from her? Would he be able to live without her for so long?
The clock struck 10pm, and that's when she arrived, frantically pacing around the temple, trying to find him, but alas he was no-where to be seen! Had he truly jumped? Surely no, she pondered upon! She looked at Lord Ganesha's idol and questioned him with her eyes, and Lord Ganesha could not help but answer her question, and he did so by disallowing her from leaving the temple- That was such a clichE scene but it was so beautifully shot- you could see the pain and anguish on her face, she fell down in front of Bappa, wondering where Raghav was. Hoping the bells ringing frantically were meant to be a good omen for her. Did one truly have to suffer in this manner to acquire REAL HAPPINESS?Hearing her plea, he could no longer hide and had to make his presence known, and he came out and the first thing that struck him was her pain, and she slowly retracted herself from the position she was, time stood still for what felt like eternity and slowly they both made their way to each other, their eyes doing the talking instead!! Their emotions got the better of them both, and they forgot everything and just hugged each other... and straight away you could see the relief and happiness in her face, and how content she was being in those broad arms feeling his warmth again. He could not believe his eyes, he held her so delicately, cupping the back of her head so carefully, the pain ever so visible in his eyes. The moment he realised this was not a dream, he allowed himself to feel her again, leaning towards her head, closing his eyes to embrace the moment and her warmth. Not wanting the moment to end, its been weeks since he last saw her, last heard her voice, last felt her warmth and this was not a moment he wanted to lose, he could live again, she was his ray of sunshine and he did not want to see that cloud of darkness looming over him again.
BUT ALAS, reality struck Kalpana and she was brought back to her senses, and pushed him away disgust ever so visible on her face and the helplessness in his face of not being able to freeze that moment in time. She went there with a bit of hope, that he had taken the step of divorcing the thorn in their way, but little did she realise despite wanting to, he couldn't because his mother had put him in a very awkward position. Then he mentioned the one year deal and she was not happy and rightly so. How dare he think she would wait for one year for him? Did he consult her when he took the step of marrying Pakhi? So what gives him the right to ask her to put her life on hold for him, for one year. And she rightly questioned him, and that jerk of his hand by her , brought him back to reality and he realised he could not let her go, the pain was too much to bear, her questions were too much to bear. He was left gobsmacked, but he knew deep down she was right as one truly could never quantify how long a revenge could last.
Turning to Bappa, he picked up the kumkum, seeked his blessing and walked towards her to ensure she knew how much he truly loved her. She was shocked, so shocked that movement felt impossible. She just watched him, whilst he firmly made his way towards her, with his Ek Mutthi Sindoor (đ) to give their relationship a name, to make her understand his true intentions and literally showered her with that kumkum and the way she slowly opens her eyes to question him was beyond brilliant- that little moment might have lasted for 2 seconds top, but Rach nailed that scene to perfection. The mantra in the background had both the female and male versions, which was in a sense their vows to each other. (I will not indulge too much on this as her reaction will only evident on Monday).
Lord Ganesha had always been their witness and guide- When they needed his blessing the most, he was there to offer it to them, today when she was left feeling alone, he once again gave her the path she ought to be looking towards. When God himself is willing to guide you towards your path, then why not follow it? Is it because society will point a finger and laugh at you?Well if that is the case, then we all should stop living life on our own terms and bow our heads to society allowing society to take each and every decisions that hold a POIGNANT SIGNIFICANCE in our lives.
