CHAPTER-44.

Astha entered the hospital,her heart beating like anything..

"Thankfully the passenger was not hurt that much,but the driver took most of the injury.."

Astha's heart nearly stopped as she overheard the conversation between two people.

As far as she knew,Shlok always drove his own car,and his companion or passenger was mostly Suresh his secretary..

She felt a strange constriction in her throat and a heavy feeling in her heart as she slowly walked towards the room where they said the accident patient was kept..

She hated the hygienic hospital smell,as it reminded her of her father..She could not believe she was going though this all over again..

Her hand shook as she slowly opened the door..

She stifled the choked sob that rose in her throat,as she looked at the man lying on the bad wrapped in bandage..

His face could not even be made out in the white bandages that were wrapped around his head..

He breathed through artificial ventilator,as the monitor beeped away at the side,the sound sounded more than ominous to her..

Slowly she walked towards the unconscious figure,lying on the bed..

Her heart squeezing painfully..

What had happened to the tall strong man..?!

She felt a pricking sensation at the back of her eyes,as she tried to stop the tears from coming..

She had extended a hand to touch his face through the bandage,when someone called her from the door.

"Astha..?"

She went completely still,as the voice sounded like him..But the great Shlok Agnihotri was at the moment lying unconscious on that bed..

How could he be calling her..?!

"Astha..?Is that you..?"The voice called out again.

Frowning Astha turned this time,how could she hear him-..

Her jaw dropped open as she stared at a perfectly alright Shlok Agnihotri standing at the door.

Slowly she blinked and turned back to the bed and then back at the man,and then blinked again..Unable to take it or understand anything..

Was she dreaming or had Shlok died,and that was his spirit..

Slowly Astha felt him getting blurred ,and then completely vanish as she lost her consciousness..

"ASTHA!"

Shlok was just in time to stop her falling on the hard hospital floor.

People gathered as he carried her out of the room,and to an empty seat that was outside..

Someone gave him a water bottle and he quickly sprinkled water onto her face..

She blinked and frowned,and then finally opened her eyes,to stare up at his worried face.

"Astha are you alright?!"He asked in his familiar husky voice,and Astha frowned deeper.

And then she slowly raised a hand to touch his bearded face..

Something in her act made Shlok wait quietly,as she slowly touched his face,as if her life depended on it.

And then after she had felt his face completely,she stared up at him with wide brimming eyes.

Shlok noticed her lower lip wobble a little,and as he was about to reassure her that he was alright,she suddenly hugged him tight,and started sobbing into his shirt..

The world stopped for Shlok right then.

He slowly moved his hand round her,and then tightened his hold on her,as she clasped him tighter too..And his wife of three months,who had declared she loathed him,wept her heart out against his chest,making his heart constrict with a familiar feeling..The same feeling that he had tried to hide these longest three months of his life..

Her sobs seemed to clench his heart tighter,and tighter,and he desperately tried to shush her as his heart soaked wet with her tears..

He closed his eyes,in remembrance..

FLASHBACK..

Shlok was checking his phone constantly,his brows creased in worry as he tried to find a link or cause behind the recent incidents..

These past three months a series of incidents had lead him to worrying ..

Twice he was attacked by goons,who ran away before he could catch them..Once a near shot had his car's glasses shattering as someone fired,from behind trees at a traffic stop..But once again the attacker had ran away before he could catch the culprit.

He was more worried about his family members and Astha rather than himself due to the attack..

And to ensure they did not get too worried he had not informed about a thing to any of his family members..Especially not Astha..Although he knew she did not really care if anything happened to him,but still he did not want to worry her in any way..She was really worried about her father in any way.

That is why he had called on the investigator who was about to come any time soon..

His face relaxed when he saw the man finally entering the office.

He smsed Suresh to take his car and leave for servicing with his driver,and that he will go home in the other car..

And then he proceeded with the meeting..

END OF FLASHBACK..

Finally a completely red faced Astha looked up at him with embarrassment.

Shlok smiled at her softly.

"I was not in the car Astha..Nothing happened to me..Don't worry.."He whispered softly.

Astha was about to smile back,when suddenly moved away,as if remembering something.

"Astha..?What happened Astha..?"

Astha shook her head and took a step behind..Shlok tried to reach her,but soon she was running away from the hospital,leaving a confused Shlok behind.
