Actually I think that the entire speech was based on Raman and Shagun. The old Raman knew that he was in a love-less relationship with Shagun and he still tried to please her in any which way he could. I'm sure the poor guy knew that Shagun was "smitten" by Ashok but he still stayed quiet because he thought that he could still win her over, through some hard work. đ¤
Through his speech, Ishita's expression to me was realization as to how broken Raman was on he insideđ...the fact that he wasn't always a "pattar dil" and once upon a time, he did believe and was able to love completely. Ishita can also relate because she had so much faith and hope in Subbu and he also just left her and it wasn't even her fault. đ
