CHAPTER 72. EK RAIN DANCE HO JAAYE!

Place - Sheeshmahal

Day - 3 Sunday continued

Geet sighed softly as she looked at the scene in front of her. There sat Arnav, Maan, Aakash, Dev, Arjun and NK in some chairs in the lawn looking sadly around. Khushi sat with her Amma and Buaji nearby all three discussing something serious. NT, Paayal, Lavanya and Annie were talking and giggling and the way they seem to be patting NT's stomach, Geet guessed the topic was the soon to be born baby. But even those four quieted down after a while. Daadima, Naaniji, Maamaji and Maamiji seem to be discussing something very serious and the way Maami seemed to fume, Geet was sure they were discussing the Chacha. Anjali was being scolded by Shyam and Geet was sure it was about her trust in that Chacha. Geet huffed; kuch faayda nahi meri mehnat ka! In sab par toh kuch asar hi nahi hua!

Geet had seen how forlorn everyone looked after Chacha went away. They were not sad due to the Chacha's departure. They were just affected by the events happened in the noon and that had brought down their cheer level. All the happiness related to the upcoming weddings had vanished away leaving behind a gloomy atmosphere. Geet was sad to see everyone like this and in an effort to cheer everyone she had called every family member into the lawn and asked them to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. But it seemed that all her hard work had gone to drain as everyone were still discussing or thinking about the Chacha. Bas! Bahut hogaya yeh Chacha puran! Ab us chapter ko khatam karna hoga aur naya chapter kholna hoga!

Geet ran towards the house and instructed the servants to bring the biggest stereo in the house to the room which had window facing the lawn. As there was a good chance of rain, Geet did not get the stereo out of the house and into the lawn as once the rain came, the stereo will be wet by the time they shifted it in. Once the stereo was near the window facing the lawn, she pulled out CD filled with songs and played it as loud as possible.

Everyone looked up all shocked to hear songs being played so loudly. It was loud enough that all could hear it clearly but quiet enough that it would not disturb any neighbours. Anjali smiled and shook her head; trust Geet to play songs to cheer everyone up!

Soon Geet was out and dragging the youngsters to dance with her. While Lavanya, NK, Paayal, Annie, Aakash, Dev and Arjun joined her, NT could not join as she was pregnant, Maan and Arnav preferred to sit and watch while Khushi looked away sadly. Geet guessed Khushi was sad due to the fact that Arnav will be married to her sister soon. As the songs went on, Geet got Maami and Buaji to give some dhumkas and Naani and Daadi to shake their shoulders on some songs. Everyone laughed and smiled and Geet brought back the missing excitement for the upcoming weddings. Soon Dev had NT picked up in his arms bridal style and swaying to some song while NT blushed and scolded him to put her down. Annie and Arjun gave a romantic dance performance while Paayal and Aakash danced slowly to some songs. NK was able to make Lavanya do their chicken dance leaving everyone laughing.

As the wedding excitement came back in the air, Geet smiled happily. Ab lag raha haina, shaadi ka ghar! Ab bas AB se shaadi karne ke liye KB maan jaaye aur Maan mere pyaar ko accept karle, phir toh sone pe suhaaga! She grinned eagerly and allowed herself to be dragged by Annie for another song performance.

Suddenly, the sky opened and rain started pouring. It happened so suddenly and so fast that all were drenched in minutes. Soon everyone was scrambling towards the house except Geet who raised her arms and allowed herself to get drenched. Everyone passed Geet shouting for her to get in but Geet shook her head. Nope! She was not going anywhere! Maan, who had turned around to make sure NT was ok, stilled as he saw a drenched Geet with pure ecstasy on her face. Mesmerised by her expression, Maan stared at her stupefied few feet away. As Khushi passed Geet, Geet caught her hand and made her stop.

"Khushi chalo! Baarish mein bheegte hain!"

"Nahi Geet! Rehne do!"

"Khushi! Tum mujhe apna dost maanti ho na? Toh chalo mere saath baarish mein bheego!"

Khushi smiled softly and soon she was also enjoying the rain alongside Geet. Geet smiled as she looked at Khushi's smiling face. Chalo! KB ne smile toh kiya! Bas yahi toh main chaahti thi! Ki KB kuch der apne gam ko bhool ke relax kar sake, enjoy kar sake! Geet went back to twirling around right beside Khushi, neither girls noticing Maan standing nearby staring at Geet or Arnav who was hiding behind a pillar staring at Khushi. Except these four, rest of the family was on route to change their clothes into something dry. Not a single one of them thought to stop the stereo from playing anymore songs and the stereo continued to blare away.

The ongoing song ended and another started. As the music filled the air, Geet grabbed Khushi and spun her around; both the girls laughing and giggling not noticing their admirers. Maan closed his eyes as he remembered Soni twirling around in the rain enjoying it. "Soni", he whispered softly and Geet stilled. Why did she feel someone was calling her? She turned around to look at the house only to see Maan standing there with eyes closed. Geet smiled in wonder and stared at drenched Maan with his handsome figure, bulging muscles and flat abdomen, all of which Geet could see clearly as Maan's shirt had stuck to his body.

Khushi stopped her twirls and looked at Geet and Maan together. Feeling as an intruder she slowly walked few feet away and started walking around the perimeter of the lawn in the rain.

She kissed the same cheek and Maan took a step back in surprise.

Geet again started dancing around him while Maan looked away.

Music started and Geet continued to dance around Maan all the while nudging him to join her. Arnav shook his head as he stared at his sister's antics. Yeh motormouth bhi paagal hai! But then realizing that he should give the couple their privacy he walked into the lawn opposite to where the couple was.

Arnav stilled as he came across Khushi and both stared at each other.

Khushi tried to walk by him but Arnav caught her wrist.

Khushi looked at him with accusing eyes and Arnav looked away, filled with guilt at how he had treated her few weeks back.

Arnav looked back at Khushi with sorrow filled eyes and grabbed her arms, "Mujhe maaf kardo Khushi!".

Khushi turned around and ran off to her room while Arnav stood in the rain with pain in his eyes.

Maan could not move. He was stuck staring at Geet who reminded him of Soni. He was reminded of the fact that Geet was Soni and Soni was Geet. His heart understood that it was beating for Geet but his mind had too many walls protecting his heart and they refused to tear down. His mind refused to allow Geet back into his life. Feeling pain at not being able to accept Geet, Maan turned around to walk away. Geet noticed him moving and walked in front of him. She grabbed his shirt's collar and pulled him close.

Geet winked at him making Maan look at her shock.

She put her arms around his neck and smiled at him while he kept on looking at her in shock.
