barun comment on sanaya in his latest interview

Any plan to come back to Television? Will you like to work with Sanaya Irani again if offered a role as you both are audience's favorite couple?

The content has to be good, medium doesn't matter to me. I'd want to work with Sanaya because she's a great friend more than I'd like to work with her because it's a safe bet!

TV actor-turned-Bollywood actor Barun Sobti, who just finished the shooting of his film SATRA KO SHAADI made under John Abraham's production banner, says the film revolves around five days of wedding and highlights Indian shaadis. ''I play Naresh Sinhal, who is settled in job and of marriageable age. He goes to Bhopal to attend a wedding and there he meets a girl (played by Sapna Pabbi of 24 fame). The film is about five days of wedding,'' Barun talks about his character.

However, he denies it being a typical Bollywood film or having a typical shaadi setting as we usually witness. ''SATRA KO SHAADI is a typically non-Bollywood film. It's a real life wedding scenario. When I had first read the script, I thought no one has ever told such type of story or presented Indian shaadi in a much real way. I was stunned! It doesn't show the jolly side of marriage, which we have been seeing in films over the years.''

When asked how he landed a role like this, Barun said, ''Actually, director Arshad Syed had seen my work and he casted me for this role.''

Barun had a great time working with producer & actor John Abraham. ''John is pretty chilled out person and has no fuss about him. He is an intelligent, sharp businessman. It was nice and hectic schedule. The shoot went pretty well and John was like a buddy on the sets.''

After Ayushmann Khurrana, who also took to films after doing TV and made his debut with the same banner, Barun is being looked forward to make it big here. Ask Barun about the similarities being drawn and embarking his journey in filmdom much like Ayushmann and he says, ''It might appear so but I don't think there is any similarity. Every person has its own path, comes with his/her destiny. If I start comparing myself I'll be an idiot, as I have to yet begin my journey.''

With so many newbies and TV actors making their foray into Bollywood, isn't Barun dissuaded of stiff competition? ''Everyone can create one's own space here. Frankly, there is no dearth of opportunities,'' he says.

While Barun was always keen to turn a film actor, ask if he was particular about the kind of projects he wanted to take up and accordingly selected a film like SATRA KO SHAADI and he says, ''I am in no position to be choosy right now. It's not an ideal world. I am happy that I had good option before me and didn't really have to make a conscious effort. I would want to be part of great content.''

Though Barun began his acting career with Telly soaps (Iss Pyaar Ko Mai Kya Naam Doon), he is averse to it. ''I left TV because it's excruciating. I didn't see anything great happening with my character there. Moreover, daily soaps kill you and your creativity,'' he says and adds, ''I would love to do weekly TV shows. Something like Anil Kapoor's 24 series, which was inspired by American TV show.''

While SATRA KO SHAADI is being hailed as his maiden venture, Barun has already done two films, MAIN AUR MR. RIIGHT and 22 YARDS. While MAIN AUR MR. RIIGHT is ready to release, 22 YARDS is 20% complete.
