Lets talk about new movies only because for e.g. if someone brings up a 2007 movie Manorama Six Feet under, very few will have idea what he/ she is talking about.
With Dhoom being the biggest grosser ever, bollywood has sunken to a new low. So there is no doubt some movies which were so good that people thought whats happening? Why is this movie making sense. Why are the actors acting so well? We want to see a clown designing security system of a bank. We want to see one 5 feet 8 guy beating 400 people.
Highway: I actually feel sad for randeep and alia. Both have given mind blowing performance. This movie should at least have been semi-hit if not hit. But its Imtiaz Ali's fault. Why did he make such a perfect movie. Why didn't he leave any loop holes. Why did he explain so well the reason Alia hated her rich lifestyle. Only if he had learnt something from aditya chopra, he would have put in some mindless illogical sequences. Then the movie would have done so good.
Box Office Verdict: Below Average.
The Lunchbox: A picture says 1000 words. Irfan Khan's expressions in this movie alone made the movie worth watching. Whenever he opened the lunchbox, you could see a different expression. If this wasn't enough, we were given another brilliant performer Nawaz. Lets not forget the female lead
Nimrat Kaur. Again director Ritesh Batra's fault for making a story based movies backed by solid acting performance. Who wants to see quality actors doing quality stuff, we want to see Aamir Khan saying bandhe hain hum.
Box Office Verdict: Average
Shahid: What possibly could be said as the best acting performance of 2013 completely went unnoticed. I am talking about Rajkumar Yadav performance in Shahid. Even after a powerful script, a well executed movie and perfect performance, people decided to sit at home and wait for Dec because that is when Dhoom 3 was coming. Why see something new based on real life of a guy who dedicated his life on helping those poor who were wrongly accused when you can watch Uday Chopra doing the same mummy jokes which he has done previously and that also twice.
Box Office Verdict: Flop
