I thought Ashaji was a bit biased and therefore not the best judge, but I have to say she and Himeshji provided plenty of good entertainment. She was truly able to get underneath Himesh's skin.

He should not let her effect him sooo much.

I guess biased is not the right word . But I think she was obsessed with songs by her and RD burman. I understand but I believe this created some subjectivity on her part. She does not understand todays market and that singers with high pitched voices like lata and her are not that suitable for the current market. In fact, my younger cousins think they sounded like the Chipmunks or swallowed helium from a baloon their voices were so high. Now things have changed quite a bit. That's what I meant.

Also I believe Sarika was brilliant (better than the other 2 singers) and she somehow did not like her new style of voice. Reminded her too much of Sunidhi maybe. Old is definitely gold , but music styles have a shelf life and they must continue to progress and change. I don't know if she recognizes that. But, then she will sing a cha cha cha .... I don't know.

No offence to anyone. I love her as a singer just not sure as a judge who should only be focused on SUR.

I fully disagree with these comments. I dont think music style has a shelf life. What Asha and Lata have left us is basis of all that is to come. All Western and hip hop is a nice tren which I respect and enjoy but none can match the melody of their songs.

As far being biased, I think she was the most disinterested and constructive judge. The show gained more respect because of her. VOI , II3 judges can not compete insightful comments of Ashaji. Hence Abhijeetji, Anuji, Himeshji all try to be rude to show their sincerity but Ashaji showed us the correct humble, respectful yet strict way of judging. Her comments are priceless.

As for Sarika, I dont think she really sang that well. She was hyped by composers for no reason. Ashaji again took right decision.

She will be sorely missed.

Thank U

Actually look at a regular breakup of songs in a hindi movie

A. 1. Item song or 1. Sufi Song

B. 1. Male or Female sad song

C. 1-2 Masti song

D. 1-2 Love songs

there are always 2-3 songs in the Lata/Asha mould, those are sung by Alka/Shreya. but if you listen all the singers here are concentrating only on #A or #C

In fact, my younger cousins think they sounded like the Chipmunks or swallowed helium from a baloon their voices were so high. Now things have changed quite a bit. That's what I meant.

Song sung in Sur without the emotion in it is useless, she just cannot concentrate on Sur, she has to look at the emotion of the song, if it is a love/sad/masti song

yes she has a different perspective than most of us, she has been around for 40-50 odd years, she more than anyone else can tell what is required in what type of a song, she has been versatile in singing everything, she is better qualified than any singer there(More qualified than her sister too)

Wow. Personally, I would not say that she is more qualified than her sister. I believe they probably both have understanding.

But obviously, I think differently on this subject. I do think she is highly subjective and that lends itself to bias. I think that those who appreciate music and art will look at these creative people from different points of views.

But, I respect your opinion.

one more thing Sareg.

I dont look at this day and age of music as bleakly as you do . Of course I liked the oldies, but I think each generation was limited and we all have a tendency to look at the previous generation as somehow better.

I don't see it that way and I believe there is a wonderful trend in music with many more genre's and styles of voices being accepted.

At one time a heroine or hero could only sound a particular way. Now we have moved away from those constrictions. That's how I see it.

But, like I said before we will all differ in the way we see art and music.
