Nice post..... Let me take this post in other prospective.....

Go to the era of 70s and 80s, if u see all the melodious songs that time, they were picturised either on nature, river, birds, or something real calm surrounding...... while even that time beats and dance numbers were there when picturisation was on parties, hotels or discs....

Now come to 90s and 21st century.... If u see whenever the picturisation is with calm surrounding the song has been composed melodious, but the irony is that the picturisation now a days is mostly in discs parties, Item numbers with minimum clothes for the actress..... and I am sure a melodious song will not fit into the bill......

I feel that basic reason of change in music has come from change in the moviemaking and picturisations. now ofcourse on a melody u cant dance in mini skirt na😆.....

😆Yeah, and also one can get cold in a mini skirt if dancing in snow covered mountains😃.Very health concious directors😃..You are right, mostly songs are picturized indoors in a discotheques or so.. Thanks for sharing your views

Music without melody is not real music. It is said that modern generation likes fast, loud music better than old style melodies. But who promoted this taste? The advent of a plethora of private channels did a lot to change the taste.Bollywood and TV go together in creating this situation.
There is not a single channel that gives us melodious music-there may be stray cases of exception.Classical music is the worst sufferer in this respect.
One can unnderstand that young generation wants action and fast beats. But that is for the parties and there are various bands that cater to this need. But it is hard to believe that youngsters cannot respond to good melodies.
As for melody v/s beats the question beats me as I am not an expert in music.Just an avid listener-an old fashioned one at that who likes the melodious songs of yestr years and the few that sneak into today's albums.

Totally agree with you, things have changed..I happen to listen to some Mukesh's songs yesterday on youtube..it is such a change from today's music..it was so much refreshing...

Very true. I think we r going more towards noise rather than melody. If beats n melody were together, it wont matter much but beats without melody is surely pathetic n we do find such numbers more nowadays.
I dont think the entire fault is with the music directors as people r also changing with time. They hav to make music so that it hits the chart. Nevertheless, they do not understand one thing. In this fast age, people need relaxing and soothing music more than they needed in yesteryears. But first people shd also understand this. 😭

You are right..Don't know if people wants it or they have given the present kind of music..Only consolation is that we have lot of melody left to hear from the golden past..
