So i see there are many supporters of this movie also
But i think most of us who didnt like it, just couldnt sit through the story without proper plot, screenplay or execution. It was obvious that Sushant and Pari's charecters were confused between culture and their emotions. I got that when they were first making out with each other like horny teenagers without going on date or having a proper conversation. What i dont know understood is why couldnt have just talked like adults about their feelings from beginning instead of running away from altar every 5 mins like it's a child play. There was no family pressure for them to get married, both were independent individuals who were free to live their lives and make watever decisions they wanted to make. There was no dying father and poor family for which anyone had to make any sacrifice. More than confused, i just found them immature. Thus the movie failed for me. Director seemed confused about his message by the end of it, and us the audience lost any kind of connection to the characters since they were just too stupid to relate to.
From what i understood of the story, they didnt talk with each other openly at first cos they didn't want to accept to each other and even themselves that they didn't want to get married, especially after declaring to each other of marriage in drunk state. In our country, a relationship's ultimate culmination is supposed to be marriage. Commitment= marriage and settling down= getting married in our culture. It is so deeply ingrained in us that even those who are scared of marriage try and give a chance to it, thinking everyone does it anyway, and this is wat both of them also did. Plus If a boy says hey i love u but i dont want to marry you so let's continue staying together this way only, then 99% chances are that the girl will hit him with her sandals, bcos this gives the impression that boy is of loose character and is not serious about her, as himani put it well, in our country, people want everything but are not okay with admitting it due to lots of reasons. There is a scene when raghu is angry with gayatri saying u ran away.. Gayatri.confronts him saying, tell the truth, were YOU not going to run away too? Raghu tries to think of explanations but does not want to accept that yes, i didnt want to get married bcos that wud have made him look like a cheat, much like the men who had cheated gayatri earlier, even if he really loved her. In the end eventually, when both of them ran away and caught each other doing so, they finally had a honest convo about it.
About why they planned to get married despite being nervous abt it, covered that point again above. There was no pressure from external factors but despite being nervous about marriage, raghu decides thrice to get married, simply bcos all of us somewhere that mentality about relationships and settling down.
