Difficult to Understand Sneha's character

Hi - Its really difficult to understand Sneha's character. I mean before leap it was shown that she used to work and was a prfessional person. And after leap they are showing that Sneha is doing a job where she cann't get even 5000 rupees for her daughter's gift. And she is asking a friend to help her with 5000 rupees (In fact at the first place I thought it was for 5 lacks and I watched it again and it was for 5000 rupees).

Isn't it amazing? Even a normal salary range is much higher in India - specially now a days - when US economy rate is going down. India is booming like anything.
