Today is my first day at college and I wore a white and purple dress reflecting my happy mood but I was compelled to go to college on bus. On any other day I would have felt great but today being my first day to college I was a bit nervous and I didn't know which bus to board. So after observing everyone I went near a young man in blue shirt and black jeans and waved my hand in front of him and said
"Hey"
"Do I know you?"he snapped at me.
"No but I have a question for you" I said calmly even though I was taken aback but didn't show it to him
"What is it?"he said
"Do you know which bus goes to ABC College?" I asked eagerly as I was getting late for the college and its my first day too
"Ya XX bus goes there and it will be here in sometime I guess" he answered my unquestioned question even before I bombard him about its timings.
"Thanks...Do you go to the same college?"I asked
"Why do you wanna know?" he snapped at me again.
Though I found him to be rude but I soon understood that its was his fake anger to keep away from him . so I answered him even more happily after my realization.
"Just that it's my first day to college and knowing someone would be great and helpful...besides making friends sounds wonderful to me atleast"
"Ya, I'm doing my fashion designing degree there" he answered her and I was happy because my thoughts about him are correct he is a nice person.
"Oh that's great even I'm into the same course" I said jumping like a kid because I already made a friend from my new college.
"Hey Devi mayyiya" I said out of nowhere because that's when I realized that I have not introduced myself to him.
"What happened?" he asked me upon hearing my muttering.
"Nothing I forget to introduce myself...anyways hai I'm Khushi"
"Oh "he said
"And you are..."I asked eagerly to know more about him as I developed crush on him even before I can stop myself.
"Do you always talk to strangers?" he asked me
"Why do you answer my question with a question? ...okay leave it no I don't often talk to strangers but you are no more a stranger because we study in same college and you're my first friend" I first asked and then explained.
I thought of continuing my conversation but seeing him in deep thoughts I refrained myself.
"This bus takes us to our college" he said
We both boarded the bus together and I sat beside me and gave him a warm smile and I don't know if I imagined it or not but he was surprised seeing me beside him.
He smiled at me
Wow devi mayyiya he has worlds beautiful smile and he is looking both as a handsome man and as a innocent kid that I fell in love with that smile instantly.
When conductor asked me to get down in the next stop as I didn't have change for ticket but he took the ticket for me along with his ticket.
"When shall I return it to you?"I asked him.
"Are you a question bank?"
"What?"
"Ha khushi why does everything you spell turns out to be a question?"
"Funny"
"Anyways we shall meet in the evening after our classes at the gate" he said as we got down the bus at the gate
"Okay my classes gonna end at 3:30 in the afternoon" I said happily because I trusted him and he is being friendly with me.
"Even my classes gonna end that time so see you round then bye"
"But..."
"What"
"Nothing bye see you later"
With that we parted our ways. That day was along day for me because firstly his thoughts are not leaving me secondly I have not made any friends because they all are not worth being friends with.
They mocked me of being traditional type as I was wearing a suit and cracked jokes on me. I went out after my classes and waited for him.
But even after waiting till 4 o clock he didn't turn up.
"He must have left "said the devil in me
"No! He doesn't appear as one who breaks his promise" the angel in me said.
At last the angel won the battle after enlonged battle of 45min as I saw him coming no no running towards me
"khushi thank god you are here I thought you would have left long back. My lecture has got delayed and didn't have your number to inform you sorry for making you wait for this long" he said
"Ufff Ho relax no offence against you what could you have done if lecture got delayed and I wished to ask you number but didn't want to ask another question after your comment anyways lets board the bus" I said smiling ear to ear
"I'm sorry for that comment but You could have left right what if I have already left?"
"No you wouldn't and even before you ask me how its just I know that I can trust you with myself and don't dare to say sorry to me again"
Yes I trusted him blindly because among everyone I met today he was the only one who is true to him.
"Can I have your phone "I asked
He gave me his phone and I dialed my number and gave a miscalled to it and returned to him
"That's my number I saved it on your phone...i thought friends should have the phone numbers...so Friends?" I asked me like a 5 year old kid
"Arnav" he said as he extended his hand to me.
"What?" I asked wondering what he meant
"I think friends should know each other's name so I'm arnav" he explained to me and I engulfed him in a hug because he is the only friend I made today and said "Friends" happily
"Best friends" he repeated after me
