No, that's not what I meant by citing examples. My point was (which I think I wasn't able to convey properly, sorry) that there is always some 'evidence' something that can prove or disaprove a point like with Dharmendra-Hema and Ab Sr.-Rekha. There were interviews from the parties involved or people who were able to get a first hand account on the happenings i.e. Yash Chopra.
'Evidence' doesn't necessarily have to be photographic or video, it could be people who witnessed something but if you are going to call someone a 'cheater' and accuse them of having an affair then do that with your name known to the parties involved not hiding behind anonymity - only then rumours of extramarital affairs hold true. Otherwise, they just remain as 'accusations' and 'alleged affairs' and only ruin relevant individuals reputation.
I have very low tolerance when it comes to people interfering in other peoples marriages be it in the form of constantly provoking either partner or spreading rumours; you are then not just ruining a marriage but also destroying a whole family in the process. If someone has valid proof (personal sighting of the parties in question or photographic (which can also be doctored)) then come out in the open not hide behind a wall and then lay your accusations.
I get your point. My reaction was not for your comment , though beginning paragraph was. I totally agree with you and I get terribly angry when some journos roll out something under BI ( so that they are safe) with enough hints (so that it is as good as taking names) just to keep their shop running.
srk may be doing manipulations ( release dates of movies etc) , he may be "gunda from Delhi" (fighting with security at cricket stadium) , may use fowl language ... , but cheater he is not and certainly not when his family and Gauri are involved ...
