Sweet moments(os)

Sal, this one is for you. (I am waiting for the pizza you promised to share)

********************************************************************************************************

The heavy curtain swayed as the breeze of chandangarh blew gently, whispering sweet nothings as she stood near the window. Her eyes, full of excitement and awe, scanned the entrance of the haveli searching for any signs of the familiar motorcycle and the man riding it.

She knew that he won't be back for an hour or so but her over excited mind forced her to come to the window every five minutes hoping to get a glimpse of the man who ruled her heart.

"bas kar paro, tumhe maloom hai ki abhi unke wapas aane ka samay nahi huwa hai. Phir kyo bhagee chali aathi hai kidki ke paas har paanch minute mein?" she scolded herself as she walked back to their bed.

(enough paro, you know that he won't be back for an hour or so then why do you come to the window every five minutes?)

She sighed with disappointment as she sat but soon her smile returned when she thought of the reason for her excitement.

It had happened a few hours ago when she had gone to get some water. Her jeeja had scolded her for walking all the way to the kitchen instead of just calling stating that that her devarsa would turn the haveli upside down if he saw his pregnant wife anywhere near the kitchen.

She had smiled at her jeeja's words as she thought of her overprotective husband and how even hurricanes would have shied away in shame in front of major saab's anger if he found her roaming in the haveli instead of resting.

Jeeeja had then offered her orange juice which her husband was adamant on making her drink everyday and had clearly instructed his bhabhisa to do the same in case he was not home.

It was when she raised the glass to drink that she felt it, the first kick of her baby. She was so surprised by it that she had clutched her growing belly, scaring the living daylights out of her jeeja.

It took Mythili a few minutes to realize that it was just the baby making his presence known and not something else which needed immediate medical attention. She had smiled in relief when paro explained what had happened.

Paro's eyes filled with tears as she remembered how Mythili could not stop her own tears of joy as she felt the baby responding to her touch when paro had placed her hand on her belly.

Paro could not help but smile once again when she thought back to how both of them had laughed and cried at the same time, hugging each other with excitement and joy which only stopped when an irritated kaakisa rushed to the kitchen and sternly told mythili to stop overreacting and finish the chores.

Paro felt confused as she thought of how Kaakisa had then stormed out, mumbling something about havelis and pigeons which made no sense to either mythili or paro.

Coming back to the present, Paro once again walked to the window with the hope of seeing her husband. As she waited by it, she could not help but once again go back to her thoughts which now focused on the time when they had found out about the baby.

It had been a stressful week for Paro as her major saab had gone for a mission which lasted for an entire week. She had missed him more than she had expected.

It had broken her heart not seeing him hovering around her like he normally did as soon as he returned from his office, demanding her full attention.

She had grown more and more restless and tired with each passing day which she blamed on the sleepless nights that she had in their bed, thinking about her husband and missing his warmth.

Rudra on the other hand was equally restless without his wife. He had been so angry and irritated that his fellow officers feared for their lives when they had to interact with him.

He had rushed back to the haveli as soon as the briefing of the mission was over only to be greeted by a very tired wife who fainted in his arms, making his heartbeat increase in fear.

He almost had a panic attack when she refused to open her eyes even when Mythili sprinkled water on her face.

He had then rushed to the hospital with his unconscious wife in his arms and Dilsher and Mythili tagging along with the latter two not knowing how to react seeing an unconscious paro and a hysterical rudra.

When finally a smiling doctor calmly told Rudra that he was going to be a father, all he could do was stare at her without blinking his eyes, not knowing how to react.

When his brain finally caught up with the words of the doctor, he had run to paro and kissed her ignoring a fake coughing Dilsher and a blushing Mythili.

Paro could not help but smile when she thought of how caring her husband was. He had always been her protector from the first moment they had met as adults in the deserts of Birpur but with her carrying their precious cargo, his protectiveness had increased even more making him hover around her like a lost puppy.

She was once again brought back to the present when she heard the familiar sound of the motorcycle making her rush outside without a second thought, excited to see her husband and to share the news of their baby's first kick.

"Baawali ho gai hai kya? Kitni baar kaha hai ithni teji se math chala kar. Kuch ho jaata tho?" scolded rudra as he rushed to her as soon as he saw her walking swiftly towards him.

(paro, have you gone crazy? How many times have I told you not rush like this. what if something happens?)

"Mane kuch nahi hoga major saab." replied a smiling paro making Rudra more irritated.

(nothing will happen to me major saab)

"muskurana band kar tu. Apna kayal nahi rakthi aur kuch kahu tho muskurathi rahathi hai. Ab chal! Kithni bar kaha hai yahan wahan aise math bhaaga karo. Mein jo kuch kahatha hoon uska ulta karthi rahathi hai." Rudra continued his scolding as he took a still smiling paro who clearly saw the worry and love in her husband's eyes, to their room.

(stop smiling. You don't take care of yourself and if I say something you keep smiling. Now come. How many times have I told you to stop running here and there? Whatever I say you do the opposite of it)

"ab chup chap yahan bait." Rudra instructed as he brought her a glass of water.

As she was about to sit, the baby once again kicked, making her gasp and major saab panic.

"kya huwa?" he asked with concern.

("what happened?")

As answer to his question, Paro wordlessly took his hand and placed it on her large belly. Rudra was confused at first but it soon turned into excitement as he felt their baby's kick.

"paro..."

"Aapka beta, major saab" Paro replied with huge smile.

Rudra could not believe that their baby had actually kicked. His eyes filled with awe and love as he stood there without knowing what to say or do.

.

"paro...main..."

"jaanthi hoon major saab" replied paro as she cupped his face understanding the awe and excitement he was feeling.

Rudra could not help but sigh in content as he kissed her forehead before getting down on his knees and kissing her large belly and whispering to their child how much he loved them both.

The sweet moment was broken when he heard his wife's giggles. He looked at her face with questioning eyes not knowing the reason for such a reaction from her.

"major saab, apka mooch..."

(major saab, your moustache...)

Rudra let out a small laugh as he understood how his mooch was tickling her. Smiling mischievously, he once again kissed her belly, this time nustling some more, tickling her further, earning another giggle from her making his own face fill with joy.

At that moment, kneeling on their bedroom floor, he realized how his life was finally complete.

Nishooo 😳 Thank you so nuch for the dedication 😳 ❤️ Love you

I love it I love it I love it!!!! This is just how paro and rudra would behave, rudras protectivness doubling and paros understanding of rudra deepening.
Rudra is man of a very few words and lets his actions do the talking and showing his feelings and I could totally imagine his awe expression at feeling his own baby kick...hes speechless as he would never have imagined having a small family of his own, especially a child if his own..his and paro child...a symbol of their love

'Bawli hogai hai kya'? 🤣 🤣 That always cracks me up...rudra will always use that for paro 😆

It was such a lovely story...I had a massive grin on my facr throughout it...didnt want it to end 😳

Im ordering pizza from pizza hut 2night...aaja my treat 😉 What toppings u want on yours nish? 😉
