Not once in my life has anyone told me to give up something in order to achieve something from god.
I ask things from shivji and parvati ma sometimes but when I say about giving something in return, its purely my wish. Though my parents tell me not to do this but I do it anyway as it lessens my mental pain and gives me some peace.
