"The Lord brought you into this world,
and He will look after you..."
that's what she always says;
Ma - who taught me
that when life seems like a long, lonely road,
not to see how long it stretches
but to savour the joy in my every step;
and when i see not a single soul ahead,
how to find a friend
in the soft breeze rushing through my hair...
and instead of measuring the distance
to my destination,
to embrace the pleasure in the journey...
"Live for the moment," she says -
for you may never know
when life itself passes you by...
she taught me,
not to fear darkness -
but find peace in it's completeness...
understand it as a chance
that when i can see nothing around me,
perhaps i shall have a clearer view of myself...
People say that life is the greatest teacher of all,
but for me,
it is my ma -
who helps me absorb life's lessons,
and move on...
to accept even the scars
as marks of wisdom,
and lessons well learnt...
i believe - that i will never be alone,
for she is always with me -
and will be forever...
and then i realise
that she taught me the greatest lesson of all -
she brought me into this world,
and taught me
how to look after myself...
to stand up for what i believe in,
in the face of all hardships...
and when i feel chained by loneliness,
or choked by an empty space in my soul,
to find a companion, and a friend
in myself,
and to truly live...
Thank you, Ma...
I love you...
