Chapter 15
February 5, 2014. 11:00 am. Rachna's Room.
Shail comes into Rachna's room and opens the curtains to let some light into the room. She then sits on the bed and lovingly strokes Rachna's hair.
"Rachna beta. Wake up sweety."
Rachna slowly opens her eyes and sits up in her bed. "Good morning mummy." Rachna sweetly smiles like an innocent little doll. 😊
"Good morning beta. Are you feeling better now? You got home so late last night."
"Yeah mummy, I'm fine. Thank god Mayank bhaiyya was able to pick us up otherwise I don't know how we would have come home."
"Ok then, you get ready now. I have to go now to get the food ready for your papa, he will be home for lunch soon."
Rachna panics. 😲 "What? Papa's lunch? What time is it mummy? I have to go to the office!" She jolts out of bed and runs into the bathroom to get ready.

12:00 pm. KT Creations Office.
Rachna runs towards Kabir's office to apologize for being late. However, she is surprised to find that Kabir is in a meeting. She timidly stands outside not wanting to interrupt, but she is angered to see Siddarth yelling at Kabir. 😡
"I can't believe that you behaved so unprofessionally Mr. Tripathi! It's ridiculous! No phone call, no message, nothing...just don't show up at the meeting! Do you even realize how embarrassing it was for me to have no designs to present to the clients?"
Rachna walks into the room and finds Kabir standing solemnly with his head down, listening to all of Siddharth's taunts.
"I'm sorry to interrupt like this Siddharth but I don't think you have any right to speak to Kabir like this."
Kabir looks up at Rachna, surprised to see her behave like this. 😕
"Rachna, what are you doing? Please just leave right now. I'll handle this."
Siddharth interrupts Kabir and condescendingly sneers at Rachna.
"No, no Kabir. Let's hear what she has to say. After all, I need to learn from this measly little assistant how to behave, right?"
Rachna is hurt by these words and her eyes tear up. 😔
Kabir sees that Rachna is feeling bad. He becomes infuriated. 😡
Kabir bellows out in anger at Siddharth. "Mr. Kapoor! I understand it was our fault for not reaching the meeting on time. But as I was trying to explain to you earlier, there were some extenuating circumstances that we were not able to make it on time nor could we contact you. I apologize for whatever embarrassment you faced yesterday. But that does not mean that you will speak to Rachna this way! I will not tolerate it."
"You will not tolerate it?!? How dare you insult me like this for this pesky little assistant of yours? Mark my words, you'll regret this Kabir! I'll ruin you!" Siddharth storms out of the office in a huff.
Kabir sits down in his chair exhausted and sighs. Rachna comes and puts her hand on Kabir's shoulder to comfort him.
She timidly apologizes. "I'm sorry Kabir. This is all my fault. You lost such a big client because of me. I'm really sorry." Tears begin to fall from Rachna's eyes. 😭
Kabir tells Rachna to sit down and he gives her a glass of water. "Rachna, stop crying. Please don't blame yourself. I don't care that we lost this contract. Honestly, I'm kind of glad that we won't have to work with that a** anymore."
Rachna looks up at Kabir, clearly shocked by his language. Then they both burst out laughing. 😆😆😆
"Yeah, you're right Kabir. He was a bit of a pompous a**. It would have been tough to handle his tantrums if we worked with him. I don't know how Raj can stand to spend so much time around him."
"Ok Miss. Garg, let's get to work. We have to finish up the work for the conference next week. It will be a good opportunity to network and get new clients so all our designs really need to be flawless."

10:00 pm. Rachna's Room.
Rachna is sitting on her bed trying to think of some new designs for the competition. She drifts off in her thoughts:
Kabir was just ridiculous today. I mean how could he just stand there while Siddharth was yelling at him and taunting him for no reason. I didn't like it at all. 😔 And that Siddharth? Who does he think he is? How can he go and insult Kabir like that? I mean fine, I agree that it was our fault for not going to the meeting yesterday, but it wasn't such a big mistake that he had to yell at Kabir like that! But wait, why am I thinking about this so much? What's wrong with me? C'mon Rachna focus...you have to work on these designs.
Rachna forces herself to concentrate and work on the designs but her mind drifts again.
But you know, I really liked how Kabir stood up for me today. He didn't stand up for himself when Siddharth was yelling at him but when Siddharth insulted me, Kabir answered back. I liked seeing the protective side of Kabir today.☺️
Rachna smiles while remembering how Kabir stood up for her. She realizes that she's much too jittery to work on the designs so she hopelessly sighs and puts them away in her bag.

10:00 pm. Kabir's Room.
Kabir is on his laptop frantically typing up a proposal to send to some new prospective clients. He is frustrated that he lost the contract with Siddharth.
Oh god! I can't believe that I lost this contract! What am I going to do? Siddharth has a lot of power here in Benaras...if he spreads any news about me being unprofessional, then I won't be able to find any clients here. But wait, why are you worrying so much Kabir? It's not your fault...it was because of the way Siddharth behaved. I mean how could he insult Rachna like that? I don't care that he yelled at me but why did he drag Rachna into the matter? Whatever, it's just one contract Kabir, it'll all be fine after the competition next week. And besides, I can do anything for Rachna...not just one, I will throw away hundreds of contracts for her. She's my love, she's my life...and I won't tolerate it if anyone hurts her...
