Ruslaan Mumtaaz, a budding actor is a combination of good looks and hard work. He is very charming and has also done few ads. He is making his debut as the lead with Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar with Hazel. His mother is Anjana Mumtaaz, a veteran film actress who has been seen in hits like Balwaan, Khuda Gawah and Sautan. She moved to television years ago and was last seen in serials such as Devi and Tumhari Disha.

Says Ruslaan about his mother: "My mother is very special to me and we are very close to each other. Being in the film Industry she was always with me and I never felt that she doesn't have time for me.

Whenever I needed her she was besides me.

She has given me all things which I needed in my life. She taught me a lot. I am very proud to have a mother like her.

I never felt that she is in film industry and also never had filmy atmosphere at home. She managed her work and house at the same time and that too in a very great manner. She worked very hard and she is a hard worker. She gives her 100 per cent to whatever she does. She made me feel very special. She pampers me a lot and till two years ago she used to feed me. But my father stopped her and I think since then I have become very responsible. My mummy teaches me acting and hence she is also my guruji. She is quite critical and never praises me unless she thinks I actually deserve it. She is one person whose advice I genuinely value. I am not concerned if anybody likes my work or not but my mother should like it."

I think my son is the best in the world. Every mother has this opinion about her children but I never worried for Ruslaan. All my friends used to worry a lot for their children on their studies, clothes, toys and such. But for Ruslaan I never had such feelings. He was so good in studies that I never sat with him for his studies or never asked him to get ready for his school. He was such a responsible child and he is even now. He used to get ready for school on time, have his breakfast, go to school and study well. He was a student who scored 90 per cent and above. I never received any complaints from his teachers or any body. He never cried. In fact at toy stores, he used to ask me, "Shall I go near the toy to touch and see it?" He used to see the toy and keep it in the same place from where he picked it up. He is also accident prone. He never demanded for things. I remember when we used to go out shopping he loved it. He used to ask me about some toys and if it was expensive, I used to refuse to buy it for him. I am so lucky to have a son like him.

I never helped him and I am very proud of this fact. He made his own identity and as a mother it is such a beautiful feeling to see my son growing good and that too on his own. He is very fond of eating and even his father is like that. Ruslaan wants non-veg food everyday.

We never thought in our dreams that he will take acting as a career. He was in his college when he expressed his desire to become an actor. We were shocked and I also opposed the idea. We thought being a good student he will take MBA and will work in a big firm. His father wanted him to become an MBA Executive. But since he had decided I and his father made him understand that we are not going to invest a single penny on his film career.

Being in film industry I made it very clear that I am not going to give him any help. I know many good producers but I don't want my son to climb the ladder with my name. He never asked for a single rupee from us. When he was in college he started modeling and with that money he used to join workshops, classes and such. He started getting offers and he also did a few of them. With that money he joined Shaimak Davar's classes. Now he is getting many film offers and when he signs the contracts then he talks about it to us.

He is much focused and loves being at home. He is also very supportive and kind. After he completed his graduation he buys his own clothes. He is satisfied with what he earns. That is one quality everyone should have. He has just started work, but he is doing well now and he also has many contracts in his hands. Many of the producers with whom Ruslaan is working don't even know that he is my son.

Now he says, "Mummy you don't work now, I am there for you."
