Today, however, their thoughts were very positive. My grandpa, grandma, and mom and dad sat down and I played Rangrasiya on TV. My grandpa watches TV dramas a lot and his favorite drama is Jodha Akbar and he also enjoys Beintehaa. Usually when I make him watch Rangrasiya with me he watches but doesn't look that interested.
Today, he really had to go to the washroom, but he refused to go because he couldn't stop watching the scene in the beginning (when Rudra goes to confront Kakisa). My dad also loved that scene, he was whooping in excitement, and he usually hates all Indian dramas. My dad had to go get something and my grandpa had to go to the washroom so after the Rudra-Kakisa scene my dad told me to pause the show until they came back.
After that, all four of them sat and watched the episode with huge smiles on their faces. They laughed many times when Paro asked her naive questions. My grandma barely watches Indian dramas but in today's episode she really seemed to be into what was happening. When Paro started opening the champagne bottle my grandma freaked out and went, "oh no, will she get drunk?!" When she saw the precap, she went: "What the hell, why would she run out like that! What a fool!" (she was worried, hence interested and connected to the character - Paro. Which is a good reaction from a TRP audience member).
After the episode finished, my dad said: "Today's episode was good, I liked it." Which came as a huge surprise. My dad always makes fun of me when I watch Rangrasiya and tells me to stop wasting my time on "stupid Indian dramas". But today he was loving RR!
My grandpa also said, "Oh this drama is finally getting good! It's light and fun now - not so serious anymore...Rudra is not so angry anymore, he's being nice to Paro..." So since my grandpa actually lives in India and is only here in Canada on vacation, he is a TRP audience member and I can deduce that clearly a lot of the TRP audience usually can't connect with Rangrasiya because of the severe intensity and seriousness of the show, but also because of how Rudra treats Paro so meanly. Today's episode, however, was light and Rudra was not mean to Paro, and therefore a delight to 4 people in my house. My grandpa also commented on how he was happy that Paro was smiling and happy after crying and being in pain since the beginning. He really loved her smile.
We (members on IF) like the intensity and seriousness of the show of course, but if the cvs are really concerned about TRPs then I guess they're on the right track now - the lightness of today's episode and Rudra's gruff but not mean behaviour won 4 hearts.
UPDATED SIDE NOTE: My grandpa and dad, the two men in the room, were really impressed with the way Rudra figured out who must have hurt Paro. They were all praises for Rudra at this point. Also, I forgot to mention before, my grandpa praised Ashish Sharma. He said, "This actor is really good at free acting, he's very natural." And my dad surprisingly - who loves hating on actors I love - nodded in agreement. Both my dad and grandpa like how Rudra talks - the informal way he addresses Paro e.g. "Tu kya kari", "Chal!" "Chup!", stuff like that. They think it's very real.
And my grandpa and dad didn't say it out loud, but all you had to do was look at their faces while they watched RR to see that they thought Paro/Sanaya Irani was/is very gorgeous đ My grandpa actually ended up praising Sanaya Irani's teeth...according to him, she has very nice teeth hence a very nice smile. đ and oh wait, yes my grandpa actually did praise Sanaya's looks as well...when Paro first got out of the shower and talked to Major saab through the door my grandpa said, "She looks nice."
