The card only locks from outside. We can always open the door from inside...

Ummm ... the card is needed only from the outside. You can open the door of a hotel room from the inside without a key. It's pretty standard ... in fact, it would be extremely UNCOMMON to need a key to open the door from the inside ... I've never seen a hotel room like that.

Well I've stayed in hotels where the key card would lock the room from outside but not from inside...I don't know how that works, but it has happened before (I've done what Rudra did (taking the key card) and leaving my brother in the room before hahaha). We saw her opening her room door and run out of the room.

You probably haven't experienced a room like that before! Some rooms can get locked from outside but open from inside. I've been in a hotel room like that before! infact most of the times I stay in a hotel.
