Jassi pits Murmure brand against Kurkure

Chip off the old block: Mona Singh

Juhi Chawla did a Jassi take-off for Kurkure — now, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin's Mona Singh, aka Jassi, will endorse a new snack food called Murmure, which she has secretly shot for.

The shoot took place in Film City a few days ago. Murmure is being launched by Kolkata-based Priya Food Products, known for their brand, Priya Biscuits.

Actress Smriti Iraani endorses Priya Taaza refined sunflower oil from the same company, headed by Ganesh Prasad Agarwal.

Recently, they launched potato chips in five flavours under the name Pogo, which Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly has endorsed.

"Yes, I have endorsed Murmure," says Mona. Sometime back, when I was in Kolkata, I met their people and signed on. I was supposed to shoot in early August, but due to the unavailability of dates, we postponed it a bit," says the actress.

Old is gold

Like Juhi's spoof on Smriti Iraani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi, Mona has taken off on yesteryear heroines Meena Kumari (in Pakeezah), Madhubala (on a swing) and Asha Parekh.

Says Mona, "Meenaji, Madhubalaji and Ashaji have been my favourites since childhood…. I cannot exactly reveal what I have done. All I will say is, I was shown their cassettes before performing. But let me tell you, it's an exaggerated version of the original, so that it looks funny. I loved shooting for it."

More names ahead

Sources say, "The company will split Mona Singh's three take-offs into three different commercials." Says Jay Agarwal, director, Priya Food Products Group, from Kolkata, "Murmure will be launched in about two months.

It will be easily affordable and create a good impact in the market. The details of the marketing strategy have yet to be worked out for this one, but we plan to hit a bigger and different segment of market. We will start airing the ad a little before the launch. We plan to come out with a lot of variety, which will be endorsed by bigger names."

After her makeover in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Mona has been flooded with advertisement offers — recently, she modeled for Bausch and Lomb and Godrej
