I decided to do a deviation from my Take 5 and write something else for a change today...And I must say,Rajat and Paridhi spurred me on with their wonderful performances👏👏 spiced by some devious character assassination by the CVs...😡😡 CVs, before trampling and completely shredding Jodha's character you would have done well to remember that this is the same Jodha, who left no stone unturned to prove to Jalal that ben was a vishkanya & who drank poison for Jala and did many more such things that I,as a late watcher, am not even aware of:But today's episode spoke volumes and in a different language
Let me start with the mandatory disclaimers...This is a take primarily based on how the characters of Jodha and Jalal have been portrayed in today's episode with some shades from previous episodes. It has nothing to do with the real Jodha or Jalal or the actors personally. Both the actors are doing a fantabulous job 👏👏
Jodha claims to love Jalal so much that she cannot bear to see him in pain. She prays to her Kanha to keep him happy...But her behavior today was extremely puzzling to say the least and intensely disturbing(to be more frank).Firstly she realizes that Jalal is standing behind her like a mountain taking the stone hits to protect her...She is temporarily stumped but her senses work very well a few moments later...
- When Jalal decides to fight the angry mob for the unknown women he is protecting, Jodha takes the opportunity to slip away quietly to safety ...& of course, Jodha loves Jalal and Jodha is the one with a heart ...👏
- With the mob calling for his head on the symbolic eve of Holika dehen, she sees Jalal fight the angry and furious mob all by himself...The fury of the mob increases every nano second but he handles it all by himself ...remember all this from a heartless man for a mere stranger .He doesn't desert the woman and fights to send the last man screaming and bolting for his life..Jodha watches hugging her pallu and hiding her face ..Making sure she is not seen by Jalal is apparently the only thought in her mind when the man she loves so much is fighting for his life...Bravo...but, of course, Jodha loves Jalal and Jodha is the one with a heart ...👏
- After fighting to the finish Jallu gives an impassioned speech on love and life...so touching, heartwarming and yet so broadminded and balanced in his approach...a speech that would put a 21st century women's rights crusader to shame..not tipping the balance to make it reek of feminism and yet not sounding a wee bit patronizing, the cliched lines seeming to acquire special meaning when they come from him...a speech straight from the heart(as Jo wanted him)...But Jodha chooses to remain a mute spectator to this heart rending call of love...She passes the blame to her kanha for putting her in this trying situation(excuse me Jodha, come again😕) but, of course, Jodha loves Jalal and Jodha is the one with a heart ...👏
- With the Holika dehen starts Jalal can barely stand or see straight..His world seems to be spinning(literally) and Jodha , who would run to help any stranger in this situation even today, continues watching in mute horror... but, of course, Jodha loves Jalal and Jodha is the one with a heart ...👏.
- When Shehnaz is applying lep Jodha muses about how Shehnaz can cure her outer wounds but cannot apply lep on her inner wounds(only your inner wounds sweetheart?😕)..Jalal is badly hurt, inside and outside and she knows it ... ...but she proceeds to have another war of words with her kanha for putting her in this situation... but, of course, Jodha loves Jalal and Jodha is the one with a heart ...👏
My question after all this: Does Jodha really love Jalal or is she in love with the idea of being in love with Jalal?
In Jodha's defense,I couldn't think of much but here are a few points anyway:
- She has handled enough past baggage and finds it difficult to trust and let go completely becoz of past experiences
- She doesn't know if Jalal has come there looking for her or if it is a coincidence...she doesn't want to show herself unless she is sure
- She doesn't know the hardships that Jalal has faced during the journey, that we, as the audience have been watching with growing anxiety over the past few days...
Would love to hear ur views ,on something serious for a change...After all, I don't laugh all the time.."Laughter is the best medicine, but we can't have it as the daily main course"..😃
