Sweating out: Iqbal Khan |
The actor states that he lost almost 10 kilos in the last two months and is quite happy with his new lean look.
Dessert king
"When I touched the 91 kg mark in March, I realised it was time to lose some weight. I am a total foodie and love indulging in sweets.
My biggest weakness is desserts. I may go light on my dinner, and then I have an urge to indulge in some ice cream or a sizzling brownie. Soon, I realised these small portions of desserts had become too large for my size!"
Along with dietician Pooja Makhejia, Iqbal drew up a diet chart and strictly started following it. "I have always been working out and love gymming.
However I realised that I have a very heavy bone structure, so if I did too much weights I would look really bulky.
I think in the last few months I had started looking more bulky than toned. That's what I wanted to change and so I took Pooja's help."
No sugar, please
As per the diet, Iqbal was advised not to eat too much food at one sitting. "The basic idea of the diet is to not to eat till you feel stuffed. It's okay to feel a little hungry. In fact it's better to have small meals throughout the day than gorging on a heavy lunch or dinner."
Apart from toning down on the food, Iqbal started cutting down on the sweets. "Sugar is not good, especially when you have too much of it in various forms. Letting go of desserts was quite difficult."
Happy at 80!
Today he weighs a little over 80 kg and is happy with that. "My weight is now in tandem with my height. "Supporting him through out his endeavour to lose weight was his wife Sneha.
"She is one of the biggest reasons why I have been successful in losing the flab. She makes sure I follow the diet and cooks in olive oil and makes sure I don't overdo the ghee and the butter.
However, just like me, she too has a sweet tooth and loves desserts. Once in a while, we still go out together and have rabdis and gulab jamuns."
