SRK and Ranveer are outsiders. They had to convince someone to give them a chance to put them on screen. Ajay's dad was a lowly stunt choreographer, pretty much had to prove himself. I don't think he had producers rushing to offer him roles. He debuted with Madhoo of Roja fame, Hema Malini's niece who made her Hindi debut, she had already made a South debut. Talent was their calling card pretty much, not looks obviously.

When it is an industry kid who is handed a career, higher standards absolutely apply. Fair ? You bet.

What do you want them to do? That's the way they were born. Ridiculous, then we wonder why people start getting plastic surgery. Because of this mentality!

I have absolutely no guilt for feeling this way about starkids who are handed a career with nothing to prove in a closed industry. When outsiders face casting couches and selling their bodies for food, my sympathy lies firmly with them. And it is not as if outsiders are not told they look bad. Adi Chopra is famous for doing it. If the most a starkid faces is snark about their looks and has to undergo a nip and tuck or makeover to get a career with chance for fame, money, endorsements with last name only so be it.

My sympathy is absolutely and firmly with the millions of outsiders who are talented and have to prove their worth. If and when the industry opens, I will feel less charitable towards a starkid. I was quite young when Kajol made her debut, but she became my favorite actress because of her work. Now these are my standards for a starkid handed a debut and I have no guilt. These were my standards for Ranbir and no starkid except him has blown me away with their talent. I sat and cried in the theater during Barfi at his talent. If i have to pay to see a movie, these are my standards. I I have less stringent standard for outsiders and loads of respect for even wooden actors like Kat because she proved herself in blood and sweat in terrible ways to have a place in the industry and that's just the way it is.
