Swapna dear, yes there is a difference, but a valid one.
I feel that when Ishana was getting engaged to Kunal, Nikhil was angry and frustrated with himself so he took it out on Laajo. He was dealing with confusion then as his long standing friend and childhood sweetheart Ishana was going away from him only because he was married . Barkha , Nani and Ishana had driven him to the edge, so the rage, anger etc to deal with his weakness and frustration.
Now Nikhil may be angry with himself but is not confused rather he is determined to win over Laajo. So how can he show rage? He is repenting, sad and ashamed so he has to tone down his emotions so as to connect with Laajo. So practically his emotions are not based on his relationships with Ishana or Laajo . They are just the manifestations of his conflicts between confusion and determination. It is to say that when you are confused and not finding a solution to your problem , you become impatient, angry and rage takes over sensibility. But when you are remorseful and determined to mend your ways, then you become patient, polite , compassionate and sensible. Anger has no place when you are repenting. So Nikhil portrayed these emotions. I may be wrong but practically speaking this is how it has to be. Having said this I am not overlooking Nikhil's mistakes , he was wrong then but know let us see how much effort he puts to correct all his mistakes and make Laajo happy!!!😊
