His religion and where he comes from ain't even an issue. However there are very few young actors in Bollywood who are mainstream that are good role models for the community. I will be honest actually I can't name one young Sikh actor who is mainstream.
Yes, there are punjabi movies that have Sikh actors but none of those movies are mainstream and those films showing Sikhs in a positive light are not distributed widely. So many don't know they exist.
The problems are movies which are MAINSTREAM. Like 'Vicky Donor' which just perpetuated the stereotype of Sikhs in Bollywood. A joke. The actor is sikh
The song. 'Rum and Whisky' was insulting. A wedding and the grooms side was depicted as loud, drunk, and uncivilised and even the mother was drinking up a storm. This has not been the first time Bollywood has depicted Sikhs unfavourably. Whilst the hindu brides family was respectful, cultured and well behaved. They even showcased some of their customs. Whilst Sikhs where just shown getting drunk.
