Today I was checking out about Meera movie on rediff.com. There was mention that Akbar meets Meera.

there is controversy regarding to it...
there is story of Meera and Akbar but in information related to Maharana Pratap of Mewad he used to call her Meera Maa... but there is no proof avalible of Akbar Meera story bcoz logically when Akbar was born Meera Bai was 40+ (Maharana Pratap was 2 years older to jalal)

Meera Bai was born is 1499 or something and King Udai singh was born in 1522

Also, if she was Meera, why wouldn't they just have named Meera? Why the unlikely name of Shehnaz then? That's why I don't think Shehnaz is Meera.

No, she can't be Meera Bai. Akbar met her in his teenage, Tansen was accompanying him.
