I saw in your eyes -
Hope, Kindness, Joy, Wisdom, Generosity, pride -
occasional frustration, Anger and Despair
But a visible and eternal emotion that could only be
Love, a mother's love -
unsurpassed, unconditional, indiputable, unequivocal,
unambiguous, incontrovertible, absolute, categorical
I saw in your eyes -
Love instead of skepticism when I presented my juvenile and foolish ideas,
Hope battling the uncertainty during my wild, youthful joy ride of life,
Confidence when I set out to live outside far away from you,
Patience when faced with my exuberant and impulsive acts,
Endurance of my many insensitive and improper remarks,
Respect when I became a responsible adult,
Tears of joy when the grandchildren came along -
I saw in your eyes -
Myself bound in the circle of your love,
I would forever be a joyful prisoner in the circle of your love
Let this be be your legacy
to stretch, to surround, to envelop, to enamor,
to overwhelm, to encompass, to besiege, to empower -
to touch people near and dear, acquaintances and intermediaries,
all those set apart by the six degrees of separation
