I watched in fascinating horror, a sinking feeling in my stomach, utter disbelief written on my face, as the farce unfolded. How wrong, how shockingly inhuman, how utterly devastating did it feel??
Holy Matrimony...and there is a reason why it is called holy. Not only in our traditional nation but all over the world, it is considered pure and pious, a bond that is respected in every society, a relationship that is recognized in every corner of this world. And today, what I saw, not only made me but my soul cringe...
Yes, it was a farce, an ugly mockery of a marriage, all the we hold high in the word marriage, shattered into a zillion pieces. It was a bad joke, that left such a bitter taste in the mouth.
The seven vows to hell...the seven steps to total and ultimate hate, the seven levels of degeneration...sorry...the eight peaks of loathing and despicability. It was unique indeed, a wedding that unites two souls in a bond of sheer vindictiveness!! She wanted it, he gave it...she didn't want it this way...this was the only way he could give in!!
Rudra...what do I say?? I felt a shocking disbelief that he could go to such lengths to erase his bitterness. Rudra's sheer lack of respect for the institution of marriage had me reeling. He made such a travesty out of the ceremony. Such cruelty, such punishment ...And like the rest I just stared in horror, unable to move or think or breathe. But before, I could gather my senses, Paro's behavior stunned me even further. He dished it out in his drunk state (and mind you that is no excuse), but Paro took it all in ..without blinking an eye in her lucid state?? What was that equanimity???
Yes, the aftermath left her without any senses, the shock of it finally sinking in, while the man walked away without a backward glance at his newly wedded wife...how symbolic, how callous, how indifferent...not to spare a thought or a glance for the woman he wedded just seconds ago...but her recovery and her calm attitude, rendered me speechless...again!!
So the family decided to accept her...and genuinely I loved each and every one of them. They tried to control the damage, they stood by her when she needed them the most and yes, I believe she is lucky, truly fortunate to have found such an unconditionally supporting circle in such a short time. Their welcome, however out of place, warmed the cockles of my heart !! Thank you and hope you stand by this girl at every turn, at every tide...cause we know she will need all the help you can give!! In short today they proved that Rudra has a family, a truly loving one, whether he accepts them or not!!
And Paro Bai Sa...what do I say to you!! Yes, this is not what any woman ever wants...a nightmare come true...a horror taking over your life...a whole existence shattered in eight diabolical steps..how difficult when the man you love and respect the most, ends up hurting you the most. .But they say be careful about what you wish for...well, you won (but your victory sure sounds hollow to me for now)!! Yes, you have finally entered your destined abode, this is where you future lies. And this is the man you believed was your destiny. Whatever the twists and turns of fate, he is yours for the taking now, he belongs to you for a lifetime. All I can hope and wish and pray is...you handle it better than you have done in the past. Cause, somehow, I have faith in the drunken senseless husband of yours, that even if he is at his lowest ebb, he will not let you down, he will not drop his precious cargo...that's Rudra for you!! I wish, you show the same strength and dexterity and confidence in handling this impossible yet unique husband of yours. It is not going to be easy, hell awaits you at every corner, he will make it impossible to survive, choke your life out of you, kill you with every word, murder you with every action...but if you survive this test,..and remember there is no gain without pain...and that he is worth fighting for every inch of him,...love...true..pure...rare...everlasting...unconditional...love awaits you!!
