I just couldn't accept this. Krishna is the Lord himself and he knows what's going to happen. He is not one to shed tears when Draupadi is disrobed. He is the one who taught Arjun not to get emotional in the battle field. Everyone's have already been ruined. I thought at least Krishna will retain his divinity but no... Krishna crying?

Hello:)
I actually liked that a lot. I know Krishna is the Lord and he knew all and he sees all but to me God is all merciful and feels the pain his bhakts/ his Srushti feels. He is also in human form and that touch of humanity, i.e. tears born from heart wrenching grief at this state of society he is the creator and destroyer of, makes him even more divine in my eyes. I believe it is not inconsistent with MB's Krishna at all.

After all, we always refer to God (in any form) as "karuna ke sagar", i.e. a veritable ocean of compassion and how better to express that compassion and grief than through that singular track of tears that fell almost like molten lava from his eyes? If we believed the Divine was above tears or grief then he/ she should be above any human emotion- anger, love, etc and even above action but that is the beauty of an avatar- he is human and yet divine so despite a lot of deviations I struggle to accept, this one I really loved. 😊

it was not like krishna never showed his emotions. he was quite outraged at kauravas for what they did at dicegame when he went to meet pandavas in their exile period. so him being emotional is not wrong.

Agree with both the above.
Krishna was not a warrior crying in the battle field.
He is a friend crying for his friend.
Krishna said that though he himself did not feel, but he could feel others emotions.
He does not cry, he cries for others.
In MB krishna is said to be tearful when he describes the disrobing to sanjaya.
Krishna cried even for the "blind"dhritrastra in the end.
So why not for the ones he loved.
He cried and mourned for pandavs and draupadi many a times so ..

Well, firstly I think saying that Krishna told Arjun not to get 'emotional' on the battlefield is a huge over simplification. Arjun had a crisis of a different kind, something which needs to be reflected upon with as much care and thought as His Madhav's words. But that's a different matter.
I do not see why Krishna needs to 'retain His Divinity' and how His divinity got diminished if He shed tears. In fact the tears were highly symbolic. It was as not just out of compassion, it was an expression of Divine disgust at the crude and audacious display of might. It was a very tricky scene and the performance of the actor was what prevented it from being unconvincing or offensive. He was grim, he was moved, he was sad...but none of it was a weakness. These were not tears of helplessness-why would he shed them when it was within His means to save her?
And this was not a God crying in His abode in heaven. This was an Avatar who had descended upon earth and therefore had embraced all it had to offer. Unfortunately it offered such filth and gross that even He was overwhelmed!
