This my dear is the problem. I want the cvs to give her a strong character, as I am sick of seeing cry baby victimised heroines.

"Today everyone is all about rudra the victim handle him with care mode.
All these episodes when paro was the victim no one had a problem, it was part of the story and well deserved for putting her faith on the wrong people but when rudra is misunderstood by his bsd chaps than its tantamount to blasphemy.

If he sexually harasses her, keeps her in his house against her will, does the whole forced marriage fiasco with her the nation enjoys it, without giving a thought to what marriage means to a girl living in The far flung areas of rural India.

However, if the great bsd major looses his medals for a few days of his temporary suspension the whole world is In a riot of vengeful passion. "

^Quote from your main post. From what I understood, your main problem was with people sympathizing with Rudra and portraying him as a victim. That's why I said in my first comment that people did sympathize with Paro and criticized Rudra for his manhandling, abuse etc. SO today if people feel Rudra is the victim of Paro's actions, why is it a problem to feel sympathy for him? Or is it that only Paro can be portrayed as the victim and not Rudra? And your argument would have been valid, had he been accused of manhandling, abuse he put her through during the mission but clearly he's been accused of torturing her after getting his way after the mission. And why? Because Parvati chose to stay with him, because she chose to love him, because she chose to declare her love in front of hundreds of people and because she chose to stand outside in rain on one leg. So, how is he not a victim of her actions?

And about TV shows showing abusive relationships, I'm as much against them as you are if not more but here's the harsh truth. Makers will stop making such shows if TRP audience stop watching them. They get TRPs, hence they continue showing the abuse and I'm as much guilty of watching such shows. But thank the Lord, I know the difference between fiction and reality. I can differentiate between what's right and what's wrong.

And about Paro's character being strong, I don't know what would be a strong character in your books but in my books, she's pretty strong. She chose to stand for what she thought was right and decided not to give into Rudra's blackmail. She found out she was wrong and she owned up to her mistakes and decided to ask for forgiveness. She feels happy staying with Rudra, she decided to stay with him and stood her ground. Maybe because she doesn't scream, yell, shout but instead gets her point across politely?

Disclaimer: I was not trying to take sides. I like both Paro and Rudra.

Unlike you, I do not find Rudra totally wrong and paro totally right. I was just pointing out some obvious things you missed. Sometimes, when you empathize with a character too much you find that character always right and everything else wrong.

I believe both are victims of circumstances. When rudra had that whole marriage fiasco, he always told her that, just like her, he does not want this marriage. He did not force the marriage on her (unlike her who is doing that right now)! It is another point altogether that she did not want that other alternative but she was offered another alternative! Unlike BSD, we know and Paro knows that he did not lead her into believing that he can be hers! He always made sure that she understands that marriage is not a good option for either of them! He made the sexual advances to make her understand (in a twisted way) that she might not like what this marriage entails..

Also, when she said "dekhthe hain!!!" after she came back to his house "willingly" she should have been prepared for this or even worse!!!!!!!!

Post disclaimer: I love Paro as much as I love Rudra... It is just that I can't take this one sided theories and opinions...

As I remember, he was not alone...it was en encounter between BSD soldiers on one hand and the baraatis on the other. And even if Paro was simple...even she would see that the baraatis were not just standing there like dummies being shot at, they had guns in their hands too, and they were using them in killing BSD officers...didn't the simple Paro notice this very simple fact before fainting...didn't she think even once that if the baraatis were innocent how come they had so many guns handy and how come they could use them so efficiently and again how come they were shooting BSD men so easily...

And if I can jog your memory, she was oblivious to the whole battle scene conked out for good and woke up to see rudra kill her husband.
Before that she saw a whole bus full of people along with her parents being killed by bsd, do you think she had any bright point of reference including her dreams of rudra with fire walls and all to think positive about him.

Good point. But really is it worth discussing? RR is definitely not on the right track. It has too many loopholes. Both rudra n paro's characters r inonsistent n unrealistic. He is hardly at his job. They don't have any other officer than rudra . Paro's mami is not calling on her. Paro is doing things her way. Nobody stopped her from gatecrashing an army ceremony in a supposedly sensitive border area. The next scene was the most foolish scene of the century. Till date the so called sensitive n innocent n what not Paro has not shown slightest of sympathy for rudra's past. She commanding him to get married to her is audacious n selfish to say the least. Where is tejavat? Where is laila? Characters just disappear...how come dilsher is suddenly so fit? How can Paro take her own pic in that condition n get it published?? How does rudra act so naive? I can go on...i don't sympathize any one of them coz every scene, every MU is too superficial. Cvs just want them to get married n come up with some overused scenes doing rounds from all soaps not to mention the iconic connection . A lot was expected but falling short..atleast at present . As someone said we need to be PATIENT.

Please go back and re watch the scene...I had the pleasure this morning...she was not immediately conked of for good...she could see the confusion, the chaos, the shoot out from both the sides...the camel cart she was on, circling... And do we all believe what we are told...may be as kids, but when we grow up don't we see for ourselves and judge...about dreams...well they are just that...dreams...right??
