A serious case of abusive relationships being promoted on TV, is what is wrong. And male victim being considered more pathetic where as he himself is the writer of his own misfortunes after all who asked him to betray his own people make unadvised encounters and take a victim home and treat her like personal property only to ask her to bugger off when she has outlived her utility for the great rudra.
This my dear is the problem. I want the cvs to give her a strong character, as I am sick of seeing cry baby victimised heroines.
"Today everyone is all about rudra the victim handle him with care mode. All these episodes when paro was the victim no one had a problem, it was part of the story and well deserved for putting her faith on the wrong people but when rudra is misunderstood by his bsd chaps than its tantamount to blasphemy.
If he sexually harasses her, keeps her in his house against her will, does the whole forced marriage fiasco with her the nation enjoys it, without giving a thought to what marriage means to a girl living in The far flung areas of rural India.
However, if the great bsd major looses his medals for a few days of his temporary suspension the whole world is In a riot of vengeful passion. "
^Quote from your main post. From what I understood, your main problem was with people sympathizing with Rudra and portraying him as a victim. That's why I said in my first comment that people did sympathize with Paro and criticized Rudra for his manhandling, abuse etc. SO today if people feel Rudra is the victim of Paro's actions, why is it a problem to feel sympathy for him? Or is it that only Paro can be portrayed as the victim and not Rudra? And your argument would have been valid, had he been accused of manhandling, abuse he put her through during the mission but clearly he's been accused of torturing her after getting his way after the mission. And why? Because Parvati chose to stay with him, because she chose to love him, because she chose to declare her love in front of hundreds of people and because she chose to stand outside in rain on one leg. So, how is he not a victim of her actions?
And about TV shows showing abusive relationships, I'm as much against them as you are if not more but here's the harsh truth. Makers will stop making such shows if TRP audience stop watching them. They get TRPs, hence they continue showing the abuse and I'm as much guilty of watching such shows. But thank the Lord, I know the difference between fiction and reality. I can differentiate between what's right and what's wrong.
And about Paro's character being strong, I don't know what would be a strong character in your books but in my books, she's pretty strong. She chose to stand for what she thought was right and decided not to give into Rudra's blackmail. She found out she was wrong and she owned up to her mistakes and decided to ask for forgiveness. She feels happy staying with Rudra, she decided to stay with him and stood her ground. Maybe because she doesn't scream, yell, shout but instead gets her point across politely?
