Bal Vivah is wrong. But it can be cute while it lasts.

Widow remarriage is necessary. But the widow is bound to suffer even after remarriage.

Education for girls is important. If the elders permit.

Blind faith in godmen is not good. Its ok to have faith in devimaa.

Redemption is possible. Wait for redemption. Until then suffer.

Rape victims are entitled to respect and dignity. But they should lose their selfrespect and dignity for the sake of inlaws because inlaws are next to gods.

Forgiveness to the wrong parties is never to be questioned.

Generally cityfolk are bad and mostly village folks are simpletons with hearts of gold. It is the touch of village folks like anandi and ganga that redeems cityfolks and also those who fall for the evil charms of city.

Somethings are rather odd.

Anandi has no social life except her social work. Have we ever seen her going to movies? Or watching tv except for news concerning about social causes? In their world, the movies are non existent.😆

And there is not even one single lady doctor in the Jaitsar hospital. Only lady nurses. Are ladies meant to be only nurses or daimas in villages? Village women prefer lady doctors to men doctors for their intimate problems.

Education for girls is important. If the elders permit.Education for girls is important was the message they gave but thye also gave an important messgae to the elders what will happen if they negelct to educate their girl child ex Suguna and Anandi.

Blind faith in godmen is not good. Its ok to have faith in devimaa.Having faith in God and blind faith in god men are way too different

Redemption is possible. Wait for redemption. Until then suffer. Till redemption they make the vierwers suffer with irritation and after redemption they are so sickeningly sweet make you scared that you have diabetes.

Rape victims are entitled to respect and dignity. But they should lose their selfrespect and dignity for the sake of inlaws because inlaws are next to gods.Agree esp the bold part.😡

Forgiveness to the wrong parties is never to be questioned.Agree.Lot of unnecessary forgivenness shown

Believing in god is ok. But the other day I read about a news item wherein a girl in Madhya Pradesh cut off her tongue in a durga temple to get some answers.

Too much faith in god sometimes leads to disppointments and it is akin to blind faith.

Praying gives us solace but our prayers usually not get answered in real life.
Showing repeatedly devimaa or any divinity may lead innocent people to believe too much and it may lead to certain unsavoury happenings too. We are rarely shown prayers not being answered.

I agree with you there. But that is brought about by ignorance.

I always felt that TV shows show a lot of dramatic moments like things falling in place while pooja/prayers happening.

I found much less of that in BV.Here most of the time pooja's and prayers are shown as part of a daily routine not emphasizing too much on that aspect just to show that characters are God fearing inviduals who do their duty and leave the rest to god.

Only Asha was shown to be believing blindly in that Godman and that too because she was lonely and probably that creep was the only man who actually spent sometime talking to her.But thye did show that believing in people blindly like that can cause problems too.

Same thing in that daiyan story where people shunned her because of their own superstitions have shown how foolish it is to harbour such superstiotions.

They have shown the distinction between superstitions and intuitions during Haweli burning epsiode.

Overall they ahve been quite secular in their approach.

Well message part is a mixed bag in my opinion. Some good, some not so good and very few bad messages. Even if they advertise that the serial is against bal-vivah - 'hamari taraf se ek chhota sa prayaas', still this is a commercial venture and we have to give them some leeway because they have to placate (some) viewers who may be conservative/patriarchal. A few examples are:
Good messages: Even at the start of the serial, there was a sane voice against bal-vivah (teacherjee).

Bhairo - Sumitra were not against bal-vivah, still they wanted to save their daughter and daughter-in-law from underage motherhood.

A person can change his/her thinking even at ripe old age.

Not-so-good: Premonitions like Sumitra (for Anandi) and Anandi (for haveli people) - I have mentioned it here because though this was like promoting superstitions, it was added perhaps for dramatic effect.

Suffering of widows even after remarriage - they could have avoided it atleast not to repeat it for both Phooli and Sugna (Asha was exception, but we did not see much of Asha after her marriage).

Too many useless rituals (especially after Anandi-Shiv marriage) and khichadi of relationship.

Bad messages: Girl's education is not important, elders can stop girls from studying.

Marriage is essential for happiness of each and every person (in marriageable age-group). It is the duty of well-wishers to counsel and even force a person to marry notwithstanding his/her preparedness for marriage.

Getting bail means end of a court case.

Village girls are good and city girls are bad (this is the rule, very few exceptions in this serial). Once a city girl is redeemed, she starts behaving like village girl.

A good bahu will treat her in-laws like God. She should stop her education, take risk of her own life to fulfill the wish of a parpota etc.

Generally, most of educational, professional tracks were misleading - no research done.

The lists can be long - here are just a few examples of what I think.

Marriage is essential and also can become compulsory using emotional blackmail, tears etc.
While they supported adoption for anandi, they could have supported even a singlehood

And by making ganga give birth to a boy at the risk of her life, they gave some indirect message.
Ganga has become fully their bahu fulfilling all their dreams of having a parpota though not mentioned.
Anandi giving up her doctor dreams just because Gauri taunted her is also not good.
Anandi forcing Sanchi trying to coverup all the faults initially is also not a good message.

No, Anandi decided to become teacher - it was her own decision and I was glad that she took decision regarding her profession herself.

Though we respect teachers and also respect nurses for their contributions, the general feeling is that they are not as attractive as a doctor, a Collector or even a software engineer or lawyer.

Anandi could have married a primary school teacher or a male nurse. But they wanted only a Collector for her.

I liked Anandi's reason for becoming a teacher - she was not after status. Even at that time she was thinking about others and perhaps it was also because she loved her teacherjee too much.
Shiv's profession was sure for status because they again and again show Chief Minister calling him (anybody who is in administrative services knows that a DC does not has so much power - the CM will interact with either the concerned Minister or the secretary of the respective department). Similarly the doctor is there to treat any illness and the nurse is there to distract the patient, but will become incharge when the doctor is not there.
