But i agree that Sridevi and Madhuri are phenomenal...their screen presence and dynamic personality is unmatched...

Karishma grabbed the number#1 position after Madhuri stopped doing movies, Rani was at the Top for a year i guess. BUT Raveena never was at the top. I also don't think she was any good actress, nor a great looker. I find her loud and OTT, though few of her performances were good. But she mostly got overshadowed by her co-stars unlike these Top ladies Sri/Madz/Karishma who mostly overshadowed their co-stars😊</font>

Thanks my friend for the reply and I am glad that u raised the question as I really wanted to write on it. The only reason I can think of Raveena not getting her due praises unlike others is mainly bcoz of her brutally honest nature and not so good repute with pr and media, else she deserves the place in such articles by all means.


1. Raveena was the one who got best newcomer award in 1991 defeating karishma the same year.

2. She was MILES AHEAD then karishma from 1991 till 1995 whole 5 years when she did not committed professional suicide of leaving industry for 2 years due to that cheater akshay. You can go through all the old magazines of 1994 where EVERY TRADE PANDIT and ANALYST declared her the NEXT NUMBER ONE after Madhuri, and she got ranked at no 2 after Madhuri, for her STRING of HITS in 94 like DILWALE (she was the major attraction of the movie), MOHRA (remembered for her songs mainly), Laadla, and cult classic andaz apna apna... karishma used to be considered at no 5 or 6 that time, and I have seen all those old magazines and read them personally, not heard anything from anywhere.

3. If u talk about looks, maybe u r reffering to her later days, but till the midway of her breakup (that took a heavy tool on her emotionally..and got away her bubbly looks too due to 2 years of depression, thnx to akshay) from 1991 till 1995, she was AMAZINGLY beautiful...do watch songs of dilwale, mohra, imtehan, etc... karishma kajol etc used to look veery average in front of her.

4. RAveena got all the big banner movies even at the start of her career including yash chopra's parampara opposite aamir... she even refused Darr due to kissing and expossing scenes + swimming costume dress, that filmeventually went to Juhi.

5. As far as acting is concerned, she overshadowed karishma not only in andaz apna apna (having more songs and scenes then her) but also in Aatish, the only 2 movies they did together...she was the highlight of mohra and dilwale... she was the one who gave the trend of item songs peformed by a leading lady with mast mast, gorey gorey & shahar ki ladki.
Karishma got nothing in her career except raja hindustani that came 6 years after her career started, or some david dhawan comeies...karishma learned acting finally when her career was about to end ,with fiza and zubeida.

6. Raveena got NATIONAL AWARD as LEADIBG LADY for her exceptional peformance in Daman.
She also rrecently got a very popular Intrnational foreign award for her brilliant acting in Shobhana's 7 nights.

Sorry for the long essay, I am neither raveena fan nor karishma hater... liked both of them.gave karishma examples mainly as both were the arch rivals of their time..
I really wanted to write this for Raveena since long as it feels very unfair to see her getting ignored like this just due to her blunt nature and weak/no pr at all, else she shared the equal status of success and popularity (apart from madhuri, sri, kajol & ash aside) as these actresses of 90s did.
