Abhay says that he set up three people on Jyothi's trail. The three people who sent Jyothi back previously into Abhay's hell are Anjali, Shlok and Niranjan. Anjali and Shlok sent her back because of their warped perception of right and wrong. This distorted perception is due to their attachment to Niranjan. Niranjan also sent her back because of his warped perception of right and wrong again. He values his public image more than relationships and he judges right and wrong based on that.
The episode revolves around the number three today. Three signifies the holy trinity - the creator, the preserver and the destroyer. Anjali interacts with three people in the episode - Abhay, Aastha and Niranjan. Anjali juggling all these three roles with various people in her life, and is burdened because of not being able to do the right thing, due to one person she values above all.
Anjali, the creator/mother, calls up Abhay. She intuitively knows that there is something wrong with her daughter. Otherwise we never saw her calling up Abhay before for Jyothi's sake. She wants to assure herself of Jyothi's wellbeing and she tries to appease Javaibapu with her sweet words and the promise of gifts.
Anjali, the preserver, reprimands Aastha. She tells her that she has almost caused severe damage to the Agnihotri khandan reputation with her brash actions. She was desperately trying to preserve the semblance of normalcy in the house. That is only possible when Niranjan is appeased or eradicated. Since the second option is not possible for her as she loves him, so she chooses the first.
Anjali, the destroyer, agrees to Niranjan's commands. Niranjan asks Anjali about why she told Ajinkya and Aditi about the divorce. He tells her that in spite of what Aastha did, he still wants her to remain in the Agnihotri mansion because divorce is not an option in Agnihotri khandan. Wonder what other plans he has for Aastha if she chooses to divorce? Death by accident? Niranjan tells her to bring jewellery for Aditi as well for Gudi Padwa, as they have to appease his beloved friend and his daughter. He tells her that Aastha and Shlok will do the puja for Gudi Padwa as Aastha is the bahu until the divorce hearing. He tells her not to think of future but to just think of the next day and he will deal with the aastha's decision in the divorce matter after it happens. The apprehension in Anjali's face says that she is not happy with this but she still agrees.
In a way, Shlok is also juggling the three roles just like Anjali and is as burdened. He wanted to be a safety net for his sister, he wanted to preserve Aastha's dignity and secure her position in his house but he ended up destroying his own happiness because he cannot break the relationship with his father, no matter how poisonous it had turned for the other relationships in his life. His devotion to his father clouds his judgement of right and wrong.
Aastha is cleaning his bed with her red shawl, her love. Why is she doing it? Because she feels guilty about what damage her impulsive nature has almost caused and she knows that Shlok is angry at her about this. Shlok comes into the room and grabs the shawl from her hand and tells her that there is no need for her to do all this for him. He tells her that he knows very well what to do and what not to. He asks her if she understands that she might have caused Aditi's death because of the way she dealt with the situation. He points out that its her attitude that is the cause for all the problems in the house because she thinks that she is never wrong. He is mostly right until this point. Then he crosses limits when he goes on to blame that attitude on her upbringing. Look who is talking! He tells her that she hurt his father by hurting his father's best friend's daughter! He says that he won't spare anyone, not even himself, if they hurt his father, and she happens to be an outsider.
Aastha is hurt, and rightfully so, because he called her an outsider, when she is doing everything she can for his family even disregarding her own mother's pleas and warnings. She tells him that when she came back to their house, she wanted to leave after the six months but she fell in love with him again, the real him this time. She disregarded the warnings her brain kept on giving her and gave in to her heart's wish. But she always knew that she had to leave this house at one point but she still tried everything in her scope and failed. She now knows that she will always end up hurting him because her principles always tell her to stop the wrong from happening when he doesn't want to face the truth. She tells him that the difference between them is same as the difference between right and wrong. One of them has to traverse this distance between them and willingly go to the other side if they have to be together. Will Shlok be able to do that for Aastha? Or will Aastha travel to the wrong side like Anjali did? She rues that Shlok broke her trust again when she expected him to believe her but she feels that this incident at least opened her eyes to the truth that trust is important.
While she is telling him all this, Shlok is lying on the bed covered in his blanket securely. What is he scared of, letting his heart win over his head? Or is he afraid of having to chose between his father and right? He follows her with his eyes as she goes to her part of the room and lies down. She turns away from him and sobs, but he chooses to stay in his security blanket, though by the look in his face, it is evident that he feels bad about what he said and he very much wanted to console her.
Neither of them are able to sleep. Aastha remembers how she trusted Shlok with her life before and how he always saved her keeping up her trust in him. She looks in his direction, asking him with her eyes, why he didn't trust her this time. He turns his face away only to be flooded with thoughts of Aastha's declarations of love and his own love for her that burst out whenever her life was in danger. He realized that he is in love with her and he turns towards her but she turns away this time as she has given up on him.
In the morning, Anjali tells Shlok and Aastha to do the puja for Gudi Padwa. Shlok places his hand on Aastha's hand as if apologizing for his previous night's angry outburst. He keeps on staring at her with soft eyes. Is it because of his realization of his love for her?
