but one q (as usual 😃)
Why is that none of the buildings here or at Agra have doors? They all look like pillared enclosures.

Welcome and THANX to the TM for posting..😊

Probably the doors have been looted/taken away afterwards. But even then, i have also read very less about these doors. Even, in the show on the sets, where the shooting is going on, they have 'open' hojras, which are covered only by curtains. Will post here, if i get something detailed on this.

This is Jami Masjid.

Akbar HIMSELF OFTEN swept the floor of this mosque and called the 'azan'.

In 1579, he read the khutba / prayer, to proclaim his sovereignty, and also issued a mazhar/declaration, from the precincts of this Mosque, and took enormous powers in religious matters.

Spans 133.6 metres N-S and 165.2 metres E-W. Construction completed in 1571-72, according to inscriptions on either side of central archway. This took 5 years to complete. (Means construction of this ALSO started in 1566-67, that is, before Salim's birth(1569).😉)

So, i feel now it is clear that Fatehpur Sikri construction started WAY BEFORE those victories in Rajputana or Salim's birth.

This was a UNIQUE Mosque, of that time which, blended, Hindu and Islamic architecture and was almost UN-paralleled in North India. As this contained Hindu Chattris and also Islamic mihrabs.
